Description
Tortuga® Juniper is a tough, low-spreading groundcover juniper that brings year-round evergreen beauty and exceptional cold hardiness to gardens from zone 2 all the way through zone 7. Growing just 2 feet tall but spreading 3–4 feet wide, this fluffy, jade-green mound is naturally neat and requires virtually no maintenance. In fall and winter, the needles take on warm coppery-bronze tones that add seasonal interest and make it a standout even in the coldest, most challenging landscapes.
- Extremely cold-hardy, one of the toughest junipers available, Zones 2–7
- Low-mounding habit, 2 ft. tall x 3–4 ft. wide, ideal groundcover and edging plant
- Jade-green needles turn coppery-bronze in fall and winter for seasonal interest
- Withstands drought, deer, rabbits, air pollution, and even black walnut toxicity
- Virtually maintenance-free, no regular pruning needed
- Excellent for slopes, borders, rock gardens, and difficult sites
- Evergreen presence all four seasons
Tortuga® Juniper thrives in full sun with average to dry, well-drained soil. Once established, it is highly drought tolerant and thrives in poor, rocky, or sandy soils where other plants struggle. It requires no supplemental fertilizer in typical garden conditions and rarely needs pruning to maintain its naturally tidy mounding form. This rugged native juniper is virtually pest and disease free and adapts to challenging urban environments. Plant on slopes for erosion control, along pathways for low-care edging, or mass for a sweeping groundcover effect. Order today!
