The Nantucket Blue™ Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'GRENAN') is a great new Hydrangea and is a repeat blooming selection of the renowned Bigleaf Hydrangea that adorns houses on the island of Nantucket. Unlike most Hydrangeas, this unique beauty blooms repeatedly on new growth throughout the growing season and may bloom from early summer well into early fall.

Dense leathery green foliage provides contrast for an abundant summertime display of blue or pink mophead clusters that rebloom on new wood and last until frost. Not only will you enjoy Nantucket Blues™ gorgeous blooms all growing season long, but shade gardens can become a sea of blue throughout USDA growing zones 5-9.

These Hydrangeas are pH-sensitive and will change color depending on the acidity or alkalinity of your soil. It is best to sweeten the soil with lime to turn the blooms pink. Or acidify the soil to intensify the blue!

Planting and Application:

It only takes a few of these beauties to fill up a garden bed. They quickly grow to 6 feet high and just as wide every year. They make great statement plants in your front yard under trees. They also thrive as foundation plants or backing up a classic cottage border. Use as foundation plants or hedges, backdrops to the garden, or create lovely screening around seating areas.

A single Nantucket Blue™ specimen among your Cottage garden or mixed shrub border adds a pop of color in the shade, while a pair of sentries on either side of your front entry stairs, or astride your driveway is a welcoming sight! A ring of these around your patio table will ensure you have guests joining you for dinner all summer long. Don't forget about the armloads of blooms you'll be bringing into your home, too! One Nantucket Blue™ flowerhead can fill a vase!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Bigleaf Hydrangeas grows best in afternoon shade or in the dappled sunlight beneath large trees. Planting on the east or north side of a home also works well! In cooler climates, Nantucket Blue tolerates some full sun. With Hydrangeas the right amount of watering is important! You must never let them dry out and they prefer to be planted in enriched moist, well-drained soil. Add a layer of mulch over the soil's surface for further insulation and moisture retention. Blooms on both old and new wood, near and far from the coast, it is recommended you prune in early spring as you see new growth emerging. But be careful to only snip back anything that died during the winter.

Big beautiful blooms in the classic blue color and rounded form, the Nantucket Blue™ is perfect for adding huge bursts of color and curb appeal to your home and landscape! Hurry and order this garden standard from the Hydrangea experts at NatureHills.com!
