2 Panicle Hydrangrea Shipped - Only 1 Survived

Nature Hills Nursery shipped 2 Tidbit Panicle Hydrangeas to my home in the same container. One arrived in good condition and the other was essentially dead. I have planted the good Hydrangea, and it seems to be doing well in my garden. I recommend different packaging when shipping 2 plants together. Both plants should have their base pot on the same side of the container with verbiage on the box stating, "This Side Up". The 1 that did not make it was planted with the base pot facing the opposite direction of the other plant. When the box got turned "upside down" in relation to the Hydrangea that arrived in good condition, some of the moist soil in the "bad" plant apparently fell out.

Communication was terrible, the hydrangea was in terrible shape upon arrival

First of all, the communication with this company has to be the worse I've ever experienced, it took almost 3 months before I got the oakleaf hydrangea( I emailed this company several times regarding the shipping info with no response) not to mention that I ordered a red slipper but got a alice white hydrangea (they charged me for a red slipper tho)
Upon arrival, this plant was in terrible shape, broken new growth, torn leaves and not enough soil around its roots, the box it came in looked like it had been kicked around. Now that the hydrangea has been planted and being cared for it looks much better.
Unfortunately!!!
I won't be ordering from this company ever again

Terrible quality Azure Skies Hydrangeas

Terrible quality Azure Skies Hydrangeas. I ordered #3 pots and they took 3 smaller plants, bundled them together and shoved them into a #3. When you plant them the root systems are not even established so they literally fall apart. As you can see from the photos they are terrible quality. Avoid avoid avoid and go support your local nursery instead.

ZERO Customer Service

I ordered two of these plants. I received one, dying little plant. Emails have gone unanswered. If you call, you get their voicemail and no one will call you back. The website says “use our live chat”, but that does not exist. I got scammed by this company.

Disappointed in this one

Disappointed in this one. It looked less than healthy when received, dead leaves in the box and some were deformed and spotty. As a new gardener I thought it was just in shock from travel and planted right away. Watered often and kept removing the damaged leaves. Today I noticed fine webs on the underside, suspect spider mites. Removed bad leaves again and washed the plant. Hoping it survives. Bought 3 different shrubs, this was the largest and most costly unfortunately. Satisfied with my other plants

I Loved these!

I Loved these! I had a pink Victorian home so wanted the White Annabelle Hydrangeas. - After a couple years they were so full and beautiful year after year. They recommended the Root booster for about $15 and added that as well. You will not regret buying these. Beautiful year after year!

Worst experience ever

Plant arrived dead. I’ve reached out multiple ways email, chat support, social media(they deleted my comment) it’s been over a week now so might as well just take this as a loss and never order from this company ever again. Google the reviews. Search Facebook. Plenty of negative reviews saying this is a scam. I should have done more research on this company.

Shes Beautiful!

Very first time planting this flower, coming from Houston Texas. I was a little nervous since these plants require a lot of care and water but she has been doing so well!!! I water her twice. Early morning before work (6am) and after sun down (after 7pm). I placed some mulch on the pot so that has been helpful at keeping the soil moist. I was really afraid of drowning her or giving too much water mostly in the early afternoon where the sun was starting to burn through leaves due to me giving it water at 5pm. Shes blossoming beautifully and cannot wait until shes fully open. I also recently purchased her back at the beginning/mid May. Very fast shipping too!

Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for our Endless Summer Bigleaf Hydrangea. We're so happy to hear that it's doing well in your care and that you're taking such good care of her. It sounds like you have a great watering routine in place and the mulch is definitely a helpful addition. We hope you continue to enjoy watching her blossom and thank you for choosing our product. Happy gardening!

Annabelle is doing great

Annabelle arrived a bit dehydrated and that worried me. So I pampered her with water, light shade and clipped any leaves that were concerning. After a week or so, she perked up and now has a lot of good new growth. I am glad I treated the hydrangea with patience because that was all it really needed.

All good so far

It's alive and growing, and extremely thirsty for gallons of water. Mine is a #3 size shrub, tall enough to have a noticeable "front" and "back." The front has a fuller look, more flowering branches, and the back has taller branches at the top and more spindly stems down the side. Probably from its orientation at the nursery. I planted it back to front before I noticed this growing pattern, but I expect after a year or two with pruning, the shape will even out. It already attracts pollinators to the pretty flowers. I've seen tiny native bees and honeybees checking it out, so we're good to go!

So far, so good! 👍

I was thrilled to find original Quick Fire for sale, because Proven Winners discontinued that variety several years ago. The plant is doing great, but I'm reserving judgement until I see that it is original Quick Fire and not one of the derivative varieties. I have all my documents just in case...

The purchase and delivery went smoothly. Plant arrived well packaged and looking healthy. I already planted it in a bigger pot and it is showing signs of new growth. Looks very promising.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much sun do hydrangeas need?

  • Climbing Hydrangea thrives in full shade to part sun conditions, making it perfect for those difficult shady spots. Unlike most flowering vines, it actually blooms well in shade and loves hot, humid conditions. Plant it in your shadiest areas where other flowering plants struggle.

Are climbing hydrangeas evergreen?

  • Climbing hydrangeas are deciduous, not evergreen, dropping their leaves each fall after turning brilliant yellow. The exfoliating reddish-brown bark provides attractive winter interest once the foliage is gone. Shop climbing hydrangeas at naturehills.com while supplies last.

What planting zones are suitable for Climbing Hydrangea and how cold hardy is it?

  • Climbing Hydrangea thrives in USDA zones 4-8 and can tolerate temperatures down to -30°F. This cold-hardy vine is native to mountainous regions of Japan, China and South Korea. Plant in spring after last frost for best establishment.

How tall and wide will Climbing Hydrangea grow at maturity?

  • Climbing Hydrangea can reach 30-80 feet tall and wide at maturity, though it grows slowly for the first few years. This vigorous vine will eventually cover large structures like walls, fences, or pergolas. Give it plenty of space and sturdy support for its mature size.

What type of soil does Climbing Hydrangea need to thrive?

  • Climbing Hydrangea thrives in moist, well-draining soil with good organic content. Since it's native to wooded forest areas, it prefers rich, humus-laden soil similar to forest floors. The soil should retain moisture but not stay waterlogged. Shop at Nature Hills for healthy specimens that establish well in properly prepared soil.

How often should I water my newly planted Climbing Hydrangea?

  • Water newly planted Climbing Hydrangea deeply 2-3 times per week during the first growing season. This slow-establishing vine needs consistent moisture to develop its root system in shaded conditions. Check soil moisture by inserting your finger 2 inches deep, and water when dry.

Is Climbing Hydrangea deer resistant?

  • Climbing Hydrangea is generally considered deer resistant due to its thick, somewhat coarse foliage that deer typically avoid. The fragrant flowers and stems may also help deter browsing. While no plant is completely deer-proof, this vine is rarely damaged by deer in most garden settings.
