Just like the City Of Lights, Cityline® Paris Bigleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Paris Rapa') from Proven Winners® ColorChoice® is in a class of its own! Cityline® Paris is a wonderful new Hydrangea that displays brilliantly saturated, enormous pom-poms in a deep, pure red. These enormous blooms mature to green and hot pink - just as beguiling as its city namesake. Bursting onto the scene with deep green leaves in early spring. In early summer, the blooms are long-lasting and fill your garden beds and vases with blooms from mid-late summer.

And what blooms they are! Deep reds to scarlet pinks, the flowers change over time to a lighter pink, always with a few bright green petals interspersed to add to the color show. Acidic soils may see these lovely mopheads turn to shades of purple. The stems are strong - strong enough to hold up the huge mophead flowers in the rain and in storms - and are tailor-made for floral arrangements too! Plant a few extra just so you can bring armloads of beautiful red flowers indoors all season long. One flower is large enough to fill a vase!

The big leaves are a great contrast to small or spiky-leafed plants. That deep color and toothed edges create a wonderful backdrop for other blooms. One of the smallest of the Bigleaf Hydrangeas, Cityline® Paris is perfectly sized to fit anywhere in your landscape. Only reaching 1-2 feet tall, Cityline® Paris has a spread of 3-4 feet, making it short enough to not block the view of your larger flowering shrubs. Long-blooming and remarkably colorful, this Hydrangea is also very easy to grow!

Planting and Application:

Paris is as excellent in a small garden setting as it is in a container. Cityline® Paris is a stand-out as a solo specimen plant and attracts loads of attention as a thriller in pots and planters. The tight, compact growth habit of Cityline® Paris Hydrangea makes her well-behaved in garden beds and containers. Mixing well among other shrubs, and perennials and growing well under trees and larger shrubs.

Hydrangeas add a dash of bright color when planted in groupings or masses, adding a joyous pop of color that is sure to draw the eye. These blooms can be brought in for fresh bouquets or dried for home decor! Leaving them on the plant to dry naturally will provide your landscape with beautiful winter interest!

The vibrant color highlights all other types of bloom and compliments all colors too! Just like a fashion diva, Cityline® Paris shows off on any runway! A tidy foundation plant, and wonderful facer plant, Paris mingles among other plants without being overbearing.

Lovely in a perennial garden or mixed-shrub borders, An impressive, low screen or hedge, you'll of course wish to add a few Cityline® into your cottage gardens and cutting gardens! Thriving in those tough areas by the ocean or that tricky strip between the sidewalk and the road, instantly adds amazing curb appeal!

  • Enormous Pink to Red Mophead Blooms - Purple in Acidic pH
  • Large, Toothy Green Foliage
  • Blooms Four Weeks or More
  • Great Cut and Dried Flower, Low Hedge, Screen, Accent & Specimen
  • Wonderful Fresh Cut & Dried Decor, Containers, Hedges

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Bigleaf Hydrangea loves the full sun for the strongest stems and biggest blooms, but only in colder climates. Hydrangea prefers partial shade in the hotter USDA growing zones 5-9 in a protected location, and afternoon shade and the morning sun are their favorite! Plant in very well-drained moist soil and top off with a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch for insulation and moisture retention. Prune Bigleaf varieties only after flowering and only if needed. It is better to only trim back winter dieback in early spring, as they bloom on last year's wood. This shrub is very disease and mildew-resistant, as well as being salt-tolerant! Cityline® is amazingly disease-resistant and requires little care and upkeep!

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Moderately Moist Enriched Soil
  • Prune Bigleaf Hydrangea After Flowering - Blooms on New Wood
  • Disease and Mildew Resistant & Salt Tolerant
  • Highly Adaptable Hardy & Carefree Once Established
