Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 10-11 or as an indoor plant
The Laurentii Variegated Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata var. laurentii), also known as Mother-In-Laws-Tongue, among many other common names is a standout specimen that has minimal care and great vertical effects indoors and out! The tall gracefully curving sword blades of striped gray-green and deep green bands streak horizontally across each blade. And each leaf is accented in a golden yellow margin!
Laurentii forms a stiff rosette of pointed skyward reaching blades with new leaves forming from the center of each clump, these form slowly expanding bunches of vertical easy-care texture and form. The leathery leaves are difficult to injure, so they're great plants for high-traffic areas and locations with kids and pets that are less than careful around plants.
The Snake Plants' toughness and adaptability make them fantastic for forgetful gardeners and busy folks and won't mind if you skip a watering here and there. Native to hot and tropical West Africa and India, they are very forgiving houseplants and patio décor! As your plants grow moderately, you'll be excited to see 'pups' or 'daughter plants' popping up as they grow from the roots and grow alongside the mother plant!
Planting and Application:
These are incredible plants for the office, dressing up a lobby or a waiting area without worrying if these plants will become damaged or get in the way. The vertical growth is space-saving and won't get in the way of foot traffic. Very easy to care for any bright location indoors in a pot with very good drainage and room to grow. Include potted Snake Plants to a sunny enclosed porch and sunroom, bright window and perfect for small homes and spaces.
Laurentii Variegated Snake Plants thrive outside in USDA growing zones 10 and 11. Add formal upright texture to borders and along paths and walkways. A low hedge of these fantastic plants adds a unique form to the garden as punctuation marks! Pot up in tall, slender planters for decorating your front door and dotted evenly around a seating area. Northern growers can bring these porch and patio summer accents indoors for the winter.
- Strappy Sword-Like Upright Foliage
- Thick, Leathery Gray-Green & Dark Green Banded Leaves
- Bright Yellow Margin & Vertical Growing Rosettes
- Indoors Container & Office Plants
- Frost-Free Outdoor Zones Landscape Accent & Patio Plant
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Snake Plants do best in full sun and can tolerate partial shade, but you'll see a bit less of that dramatic color. Low moisture to average moisture, these tropical plants actually despise soggy soil and poor drainage, so provide well-drained soil. Trim foliage as needed, remove old leaves and divide or repot once these plants become crowded.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Low Moisture Once Established
- Requires Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Fertility & Very Low Maintenance
- Prune & Trim Foliage As Needed
The Laurentii Variegated Snake Plant is the exclamation mark of color and texture for your garden landscapes and home interiorscapes alike! Hurry and order your own standout tropical plants delivered directly from NatureHills.com!
