Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Zones 5-9
Vibrant, year-round green, and versatile form! The Greenlane™ Euonymus (Euonymus fortunei var. radicans 'Grezam'), also known as Wintercreeper, can be shrubs, groundcovers, or even a climbing vine! Truly versatile in the landscape, this broadleaved evergreen workhorse will become an elegant, steady presence in your landscape.
Comprised of compact, dark-green leaves, these small, oval, and glossy broadleaf evergreens have loads of versatility! Spreading 3-4 feet in height and 4-5 feet wide, these chameleons can be trained to climb, pruned as round bushy shrubs, or left to creep and sprawl along the ground, filling everywhere with greenery!
Inconspicuous flowers and orange berries in fall provide a feast for your pollinators and songbirds! The green foliage won't fade despite heat, sun, and cold, plus the purple fall color holds all winter throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 9!
Planting and Application:
Prune and train Greenlane™ as a small rounded shrub for mixed shrub borders, and can be grown or sheared like Boxwood! Creating defined beds, rows, and privacy hedges, or defined garden edges. Fantastic alternatives to Boxwood and other more high-maintenance shrubs, Euonymus are low facer plants and edging, as well as low property and garden definition.
Sometimes spelled Green Lane, this Euonymus acts like a climbing vine and trails up walls or trellis for vertical greenery, any fence or outbuilding, filling your landscape with upright evergreen greenery!
Euonymus are great in containers as fillers, spillers, climbers, and vertical thrillers! In the garden, they fill bare ground as groundcover and living mulch, rambling among larger trees and shrubs to fill in the gaps between. Let these versatile plants ramble over the tops of retaining walls and the boulders of Rock Gardens.
As a utilitarian workhorse, use Wintercreeper as erosion control and fill hard-to-mow hillsides with year-round color! Greenlane™ fills gaps between other plants or fills beds with four-season interest.
Urban environments, rooftop gardens, naturalized areas planted en masse or allow Euonymus to ramble through your Cottage garden! Salt-tolerant, it rambles through roadside 'hell strip', or in coastal areas without problems! Urban-pollution tolerant, there are few places where these hardy plants won't grow!
- Small Rounded Glossy Green Oval Foliage
- Durable Broadleaf Evergreen
- Tiny Spring Flowers & Orange Fall Berries
- Pollinator & Bird-Friendly
- Spreading Groundcover, Vertical Upright Shrub, and/or Climbing Accent
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Greenlane™ is windburn resistant; growing in full sun and partial shade best. You will get the best growth and color in at least 6 hours of sunlight a day. Preferring average moisture and any well-drained soil, Euonymus handles any kind of soil as long as it isn't soggy or water-logged.
If you'd like, consider adding a layer of mulch around your plant starting about one inch away from the base. Give shrubs in zones 4 and 5 an anti-desiccant and a good long drink in the fall to keep them from drying out throughout the winter. Prune in the spring after flowering to shape or train, or even shear if desired.
Salt tolerant, urban condition hardy, Greenlane™ is cold-resistant and adaptable! What more could you ask for?
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Best In Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Low Moisture
- Easy to Maintain - Prune In Spring
- Easy Care & Low Maintenance
