Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

The gorgeous dark green Emerald Jewel Boxwood (Buxus microphylla var. koreana 'Emerald Jewel') has lush broadleaf evergreen emerald-green leaves that form into 2-3 foot tall and wide rounded shrubs that are highly adaptable and easy to grow!

These fantastic shrubs are dense and compacted smaller evergreen bushes all year round! Tiny fragrant but inconsequential flowers are creamy-white to yellow and appear in the spring that you may not notice, but the bees will seek them out for their pollen and nectar.

This adorable miniature Korean Boxwood is deer and drought-tolerant, vigorous, and very winter-hardy! Widely adaptable to USDA planting zones 5 to 10, these evergreens are not the fastest growing, but they are incredibly low-maintenance, and dense-growing!

Planting and Application:

The lush emerald green foliage and is ideal as a low-hedge or planted in mass plantings that won't break your back with constant maintenance and fussing over! Emerald Jewel will shine with its dark greenery as a foundation planting, as a low hedge, or as property defining barrier!

Enclose your garden beds or outdoor garden rooms in lush greenery all year round, boosting privacy. Adding to your screening when planted in front of leggy older shrubs, windbreaks, and other evergreen hedges as a facer plant. Create backdrops to show off other plants and perennials, or enclose a Rose Garden with sheared low edging!

Sheared or left naturally compact and rounded, the evergreen Emerald Jewel can even be trained as topiary plants or formally sheared into shapes only limited by your imagination! Potted up on upscale containers or large half-whiskey barrels, these plants will fit right into whatever style your landscape design is!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Boxwood needs full sun for the densest greenest growth. Provide a location with well-drained soil and regular moisture, needing less moisture once established. All plants appreciate being planted with the life-long support of Nature Hills Root Booster.

People are curious about when to trim Boxwoods, but it's easy! Simply prune your shrub after the first flush of growth in the late spring to keep that formal look. If left untrimmed, it has a classic free-form growth!

It is best to mulch to keep the root system cool and moist, the evergreen foliage needs to be protected from drying winds, especially in colder growing zones. Water evergreens in the fall to help prevent windburn, and spray with wilt-stop according to package directions.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade Evergreens
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Highly Adaptable - Any Well-Drained Soil Type
  • Prune Or Shear After Flowering/First Flush of Growth
  • Deer, Rabbit, Insect & Pest Resistant
