The expert growing team at NatureHills.com has a present for you! If you're looking for a fun and playful way to brighten your flowering garden beds, take a good look at the bi-colored Tiddly Winks™ (Rosa 'WEDglezneo') Miniature Rose Tree! It is a great reminder not to take life too seriously! Each semi-double bloom has just 15 - 20 petals, so butterflies and pollinators can easily access the sweet nectar and pollen.
Everything about these prolific Miniature Roses is light and entertaining as they keep pumping out clusters of shapely double blooms! Who could have a bad day with one or more of these as a fetching focal point in your garden bed? Gift one to a special friend or family member on a special occasion! Include a cute pair of garden gloves, too!
Moreover, you'll have a hard time keeping a straight face around this Rose. The playful colorway paints each petal from pink through yellow and finally deepens into golden orange eyes. Each outer petal is strongly pointed and is outlined with just a touch of gold. You'll really enjoy watching this color play in this punchy flower.
Enjoy studying how the very pointed buds of deep gold open into an orange-pink interior! The color deepens and grows richer in cooler conditions at the start and end of the season. The foliage is a rich matte green and a wonderful foil for this color. Next, you'll be amused to see these cute, medium-sized blooms growing profusely on a compact and easy-care plant elevated closer to your nose and eye level!
We've developed a very special tree form of the precious Tiddly Winks™ Miniature Rose bush, hybridized by Tom Carruth at Week's Roses and held up high on a standard trunk 2-3 feet tall.
Planting and Application:
Wonderful in containers, get yourself a seasonal Thriller in a patio pot with coordinating perennials or annuals. Enjoy it all summer, then plant it in your garden in the fall! To keep this lively Miniature Rose Tree blooming, provide it with a sun-soaked spot in your garden or patio with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Plant it in rich and well-drained soil with regular moisture access in a protected location with good air circulation.
Rose Tree Care & Pruning
Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the colder zones 5 and 6 and some of zone 7 too by overwintering in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take it back out or unwrap it and trim the head back to about a 12" sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.
Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.
When it comes to pruning, do so in early spring for full and even growth all year. Learn about winterizing, and un-wintering your Roses in our Garden Blog, plus all the tips and tricks you need when pruning your new prize Rose bush!
