If you have your heart set on a glowing Redbud tree for a spring feature, you'll want to take a good look at this charming variety. It features incredibly showy, very shiny leaves all season long.
A modern cultivar of the Eastern Redbud, Sparkling Wine™ Redbud (Cercis canadensis 'JN21') is a very tasteful option. It effortlessly imparts deep purple color and lots of "bling" in your landscape, no matter the size.
Refresh your palate after a long, bitterly cold winter with the showy flowers that cover each bare branch. Watch for flowers to grow down the trunk.
The upright branches are completely covered by these gorgeous, deep pink blooms. It's a display you can be proud of for many weeks.
Shiny new leaves emerge a dramatically dark burgundy that reflects the sunlight. As summer progresses, some of the leaves mature to green, but stay shiny and feature a purple overcast. Prominent veining remains purple, as well.
The thick, leathery, heart-shaped leaves hang from a long petiole. They will flutter and catch the slightest breeze.
As the sun beams down on the shiny, swaying leaves, it will look like it's been decorated with tiny fairy lights. Watching the sunlight move across your tree's canopy is an incredible sight.
Add comfy seating near Sparkling Wine, as you'll want to study that wonderful play of light. It will become a very cosmopolitan garden feature for you and your guests to enjoy.
Summertime is certainly nicer with a pretty tree casting dappled shade on your seating area, isn't it? The upright branches of Sparkling Wine Redbud stay small enough to shade a courtyard, or tiny patio.
These special trees are in very high demand. Please place your order for Sparkling Wine Redbud today.
How to Use Sparkling Wine™ Redbud in the Landscape
No matter where you use it, Sparkling Wine will become a focal point in your landscape. They work beautifully, whether you stick with a single tree as a specimen, or add a long row to hide the neighbor's garage.
Sparkling Wine Redbud can be grown as a single stem tree form as a specimen by removing lower limbs. Craft it into a low branched or shrub form plant that can be used for screening or as a hedge or backdrop for your mixed borders.
Ornamental trees that offer such a long period of interest are one of the great joys of landscape design. These spectacular, shiny foliage trees are bound to become landscape designer favorites.
They are never gaudy, but plenty of colorful interest. Add in the outstanding, long-lasting flower display, and this is a tree you can build a design around.
Create a tall hedge of Sparkling Wine to add height to your hardscaped fence. Plant them eight feet apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. The canopies will grow together and touch.
Increase the spacing to 20 feet apart on center, and march a row of them down your driveway as a lush promenade. Install two rows, 40 - 50 feet apart, on either side of a long driveway for a jaw-dropping allée.
Tuck one at the corner of your house to modernize the look of your foundation planting. Try a pair as lawn trees in mulched beds on either side of your front walk.
As you plant your tree, add hundreds of spring-blooming bulbs. You'll gift your neighborhood a precious springtime, bedecked with blooms.
People aren't the only ones who appreciate these petite flowering trees. Butterflies will thank you, too. They need these native early nectar resources!
Gift three as an anniversary gift, and create a marvelously informal grouping in your landscape this season. Sparkling Wine Redbud would also make a perfect housewarming present for your discerning friends.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Plant Sparkling Wine Redbud trees in full sun. They'll need at least six hours of direct sunlight a day.
Slightly acidic, fast-draining soil is best. Use pine bark mulch or pine straw to cover the root systems.
Keep the ground moist, but not wet. Redbud requires a regular schedule of supplemental water, if you don't get enough rainfall.
After the flowers are finished, you can prune your tree to shape by removing any branches that crowd the interior of the canopy. Take time to decide which branches you'll keep, then remove only what you need to.
Apply a slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Please always follow the label directions for application rates.
If using as a lawn tree, ensure high-nitrogen lawn fertilizers are kept well away. They will reduce the amount of flowering that occurs...although your foliage will be exceptional!
Enjoy these premium, commercial-grade trees from our expert growing team. We take great pride in the high quality of our Sparkling Wine Redbuds. Place your order today.
