Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Fine art and garden design have a lot in common. Beyond the fundamentals of line, color and shape—great visual art can and should evoke certain feelings as you view it.

This tree is a magnificent canvas that is waiting to whisper secrets to you. If you love plants, you'll lose yourself studying the intricate charm of Slenderina® Weeping Blue Spruce (Picea pungens 'Glauca Slenderina® Pendula').

Our skillful growers have carefully trained this magnificent specimen into a lavish, weeping showpiece. Many years of expert care have gone into the development and care of our very special Slenderinas trees.

With the same famous glaucous blue needles of its cousin, Colorado Blue Spruce, Slenderina delivers an amazing, steady shot of color all year-long. Like all evergreens, Slenderina brings structure to your landscape.

But unlike its uniform cousin, Slenderina has a wild and wonderful twisting, turning branch structure. No two trees are alike.

From a very strong central leader, the pendulous branches sigh and droop downwards. Some branches jut a bit outwards, then fall like the others.

Frankly, these specialty trees will tickle your fancy. And...they aren't for everyone.

Showcase your unique style by adding them to your space. At once ponderous and graceful, Slenderina has a story to tell.

It's okay to anthropomorphize this tree. How could you not? Give it a nickname, and consider it a family pet.

Whatever you'll call it, Slenderina deserves a special place of honor. You'll want to study the contrast of the strong, short needles and the seeming fragility of the branches.

This tree is a three-dimensional art object. You'll never grow tired of it. Order Slenderina® Weeping Blue Spruce today.

How to Use Slenderina® Weeping Blue Spruce in the Landscape

Turn a portion of your landscape into an art gallery with generous rows of specimen trees. Add Slenderina to a special collection of evergreens in a sunny spot with well-drained soil.

Gift one Slenderina Weeping Blue Spruce and one Bruns Weeping Serbian Spruce to a newlywed couple with a sly sense of humor. Planted as a matched set, they would make a noteworthy representation of an "old married couple", wouldn't they?

Use a single tree as a specimen. Allow enough room for the lower branches to drape and creep along the ground for the best effect.

Weeping trees create the most amazing skirt of foliage at ground-level. Use this trait to your fullest advantage by planting this stunning tree at the top of a retaining wall or slope.

The lowest branches will continue to grow downwards. Eventually, they'll soften the edge of your hardscape with a brilliant carpet of glaucous, powder-blue.

We've trained these exceptional trees up using a stake to support the central leader into an erect position. Take this tree and "run with it".

If you desire, you can encourage the top of the tree to fold over by simply neglecting to tie the new growth to the stake. Remove that stake completely, if you'd like to see a more prostrate effect.

You can also follow our lead, and tie the new growth to the stake as it grows for a more vertical tree. If you love this look, why not leverage several of these trees to create an outstanding backdrop?

Plant three Slenderinas in a semi-circle around a stone sculpture. Or highlight a special exterior container filled with a Peace Rose.

Slenderina is a perfect accent for a memorial stone. Add a bench so you can easily spend time there, remembering your loved ones.

#ProPlantTips for Care

These trees need well-drained soil and full sun. It loves all day sunlight, but needs at least six hours of sunshine a day.

While your tree is young, apply a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. After its root system is established in your soil, it will tolerate periodic drought.

However, we do recommend you protect your investment with supplemental water in extended drought or high heat. Wood mulch helps reduce surface evaporation. Apply to a depth of three inches, then pull it back to avoid directly touching the tree.

Give Slenderina a long drink of water In late fall. Evergreens need good hydration in their needles to avoid winter damage.

Pruning is usually not necessary. Correct as needed in early spring before it starts to produce the luxuriant new growth.

We'll sell out very quickly. Please place your order for Slenderina® Weeping Blue Spruce today!
