You've worked hard to make your place in the world, and it's time to celebrate. Trees are one of the most cost-effective ways to add sophistication and valuable shade to your property! The delightful Sky Tower™ Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba 'JN9') helps you in your quest to build a beautiful environment. It grows into a tall, slim "living fossil" tree that can live for a thousand years. Today, modern growers have worked very hard to bring improved cultivars to market!
Sky Tower™ is a compact cultivar that has a narrow footprint but grows into a dense, upright column. These rugged trees can be grown even in the middle of the urban jungle, tolerating pollution without any trouble! Sky Tower™ is also a male selection worth planting if you do not want fruit!
The instantly recognizable, fan-shaped, green leaves flutter and sway in the slightest breeze. They catch wind, due to their aerodynamic shape and the long petioles that attach it to the branches.
In autumn, the foliage brightens to an illuminated yellow, lit from within. All eyes will be drawn to the golden glow that is electrifying in its intensity!
People across the world host Cherry Blossom tree parties in spring. Well...you'll be tempted to host a Ginkgo fall color get-together. The foliage color is an astonishing backdrop for your football watch parties.
It is a slow-growing tree that is easy to care for and extremely long-lived. Achieve the high-end, classic look you crave by growing Ginkgo trees on your property.
Planting and Application:
This is a versatile tree that can be used for many garden applications.
Imagine a special mindfulness Meditation Garden just for you! Could you see a single Sky Tower™ Ginkgo used as a special focal point?
Perhaps you could solve some of your toughest business problems sitting with your back up against the straight trunk and your head gazing up into the impenetrable, fluttering foliage above. Dress up these trees with symmetrical measurements in front of formal facades. Or, use more relaxed spacing to suit the looks of modern architecture.
Use a single tree as a lawn specimen plant in a large mulched bed. These trees stay small enough to use in courtyards. Or bring in additional soil and sculpt a large, curving berm. Plant three trees in a loose triangle for a very effective informal grouping.
Use these easy trees with a slim profile to line your driveway, or to define the boundaries of your property. Create an impressive impact with an informal grouping in the lawn, or near your front entrance. Imagine a hedge of these sensational trees?
Create an impressive, tall solid hedge by planting them four feet apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next, and they'll grow together and touch.
Great in median strips, as street trees, or used to line a driveway or walkway as the roots are very tame. They are quite deeply rooted and strong, highly resistant to both snow and wind damage.
If you have the space, use a long hedge of Sky Tower™ Ginkgo to create walls for an outdoor dining room. Or, use a series of three trees flanking on either side of the entrance to your entertainment areas.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
The easy-to-grow Ginkgo is naturally grown in moist, sandy, well-drained soils, and has been doing so for a million years. However, the Sky Tower™ tree also thrives in average, medium-moisture in full sun. Give it at least six hours of direct sunlight a day and apply a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch all around the tree's drip line. Rugged Ginkgos tolerate alkaline and acidic soils alike! They can be grown near road salt and air pollution, and tolerate compacted ground conditions!
Prune to shape in late winter or early spring. Apply a slow-release fertilizer at that time, following the directions on the label. These trees can handle high heat and freezing cold. Sky Tower™ is deeply rooted and shows resistance to both snow and wind damage.
- Full Sun
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Highly Adaptable But Best in Well-Drained Sandy Soil
- Prune If Needed When Dormant
