Such a sophisticated shrub! Impress your guests with your good taste…simply by adding heat-tolerant Yang® David Viburnum (Viburnum x 'NCVX3' PP# 33,203) to your plantings.

This exciting new broad-leaved evergreen cultivar offers dark green, thick and leathery leaves and pretty white blooms in springtime for butterflies and beneficial pollinators. Plant with their pollination partner, Yin® David Viburnum, and you'll provide brilliant blue berries for songbirds in autumn.

Planting and Application:

This Proven Winner® has been field-tested for many years and displays a marvelously mounded habit. Yang David Viburnum is a durable performer that remains compact and charming for very little care.

  • Use these improved cultivars introduced by the North Carolina State University to perk up your foundation plantings. Rip out overgrown evergreens and replace them with these well-behaved compact flowering and fruiting shrubs.
  • Yang Viburnum makes exceptional low hedges throughout your sunny and partially shaded areas. For a solid screen, space them four feet apart; measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.
  • These are perfectly tidy shrubs to line the back of Butterfly Gardens. Corral the sometimes rangey perennials with their poised presentation…you'll even be tempted to create a Pollinator Garden in an island bed in your front lawn!
  • Add to the front of a mixed modern Shrub Border. Their attractive foliage remains full and lush all the way to the ground.
  • Yang David Viburnum can be used much the way you would use Boxwood. Create a series of formal, open squares and fill with Roses or annual bedding plants.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Yang David Viburnum in full sun or partial shade with at least four hours of sunlight a day. It will perform best for you with a moderate, even schedule of supplemental water and well-drained soil.

  • For a long-lived landscape asset like this one…add symbiotic Nature Hills Root Booster in the planting hole for life-long support. Get more expert planting tips from the NatureHills.com Horticulture team.
  • Apply three inches of mulch over the root zone to keep it cool. Then, pull the mulch back away from directly touching the stems for proper air circulation.
  • Wait to prune until after the spring flowers are done. Renewal prune by cutting a few of the oldest, thickest stems out at ground level every few years.
