Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment

Need an excellent, highly disease-resistant, and fast-growing Table Grape variety that's perfect for backyard orchards? The Worden Grape Vine (Vitis x 'Worden') is an interspecific hybrid between Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. Making it an open-pollinated 'Concord' type fruiting vine! The fruit is darker than Concord and ripens about 2 weeks earlier.
Spring brings a burst of fresh green foliage that fills out this woody vine and greenish-yellow flowers soon follow! These clusters of blooms may not be the showiest, but they are musky sweet smelling and attract many pollinators and bees to perform the work of pollination for you! The lush foliage fills out all summer and shades the developing clusters of grapes.
By September, you'll be harvesting fat bunches of large dark purple to black fruits with flesh that is a translucent green. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 8, Worden Grape Vines are deciduous woody fruiting vines that can grow 12-18 feet in height and have a spread of 10-20 feet wide, depending upon how they are trained.
Planting and Application:
This fruiting vine is typically trained horizontally for fruit production. Can be trained on fences or wires for fruit production. Use a sturdy support that is low enough for you to drape with bird netting and for easier harvesting. Can also be trained on a fence, pergola, or arbor and used for shade, screening and privacy outside the orchard. Great way to have your landscape pull double-duty edible landscaping anywhere in the sunny landscape!
Worden Grapes are superb Table Grapes for fresh eating and are also great for juice and jelly! Though they do contain seeds, the sweet juicy fruits are worth it! These are antioxidant-rich fruit and the large sweet orbs are perfect for snacking. Kids of all ages love these in their lunch boxes! Even the Grape leaves will find use in your Mediterranean recipes!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Fruiting vines and plants need the powers of the full sun to have the largest crops and healthiest vines, so provide a location that receives morning sun to dry the leaves of dew and then gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Plant in enriched, highly organic well-drained soils for best results, with good air circulation and don’t forget to use Nature Hills Root Booster for lifelong symbiotic support at the roots from day one. Mulch the entire root system with 3-4 inches of arborist bark chips to keep the roots cool and moist. Winter prune your dormant vines to allow about 4 bunches per stem of last year's wood.
