Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Growing Zones 5-9
Like a late-season substitute for a Lilac Bush, perk up the look of your landscape with this hard-working modern Butterfly Bush cultivar! You'll gain a showy, compact shrub that provides fragrant, nectar-rich blooms when most other plants are finished flowering for the season.
Entice those beautiful butterflies and Hummingbirds to your yard with the Windy Hill Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii 'Windy Hill'). This is a robust, upright selection with lilac-pink flowers and sweet orange centers accenting each of the densely packed florets that form pointed spires.
The flowering panicles are held at the tips of the branches. Enjoy their honey scent in a prominent position or indoors for your dining table bouquets! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 9, this easy-to-grow flowering shrub will amaze you by growing to full size each growing season!
Planting and Application:
Use a single Windy Hill Butterfly Bush as a specimen in a small space garden, and you'll have a wonderful focal point to study all the pollinators that visit. Keep your camera handy to capture their antics! Any Cottage Garden, mixed shrub border, or Rock Garden, becomes a Pollinator garden with one of these pretty shrubs in its midst!
Sun-loving Butterfly Bush offers a big benefit for local pollinators, too! Monarch butterflies really appreciate the nutritious nectar as they gear up for their long, annual migration south. Pair this with late-blooming perennials like Sedum, Anemone, and Aster for a welcome addition to your Butterfly Garden.
Plant them in your borders, or keep them in containers for your patio or balcony. Windy Hill Butterfly Bushes also make a charming informal hedge along your driveway or repeated along the back of your border.
Make the most of their cool, gray-green foliage and an upright, spreading habit. Install several in a zigzagging planting pattern three feet apart on center for effective mass planting and screening. Fill your bare, open areas with their spicy blooms. The contrast of soft summer lilac and bright orange catches your eye, but won't overwhelm you, either!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Give Buddleia Bushes a spot in full sun with well-drained soil. Provide regular water for young plants just getting established in your garden and plenty of supplemental moisture during drought and the summer months to keep the enormous flowers returning until frost. Plant with Nature Hills Root Booster, and a 3-4-inch layer of arborist mulch to support your shrub's root system further.
Once their root systems are established, they'll become waterwise (although we do recommend you supply water consistently for best results!). Deadhead the blooms as they start to fade for a second show as an indoor cut flower. You'll encourage more blooms, and clean up at the same time! In cold climates, you will want to cut these plants back to the ground before spring because this plant acts like an herbaceous perennial. However, when grown in warm growing zones, these woody shrubs only need an early spring trim will help ensure the best performance and best flowers.
- Widely Adaptable, Heat Tolerant & Full Sun
- Moderate Moisture & Fertility
- Easy Care in Well-Drained Soil
- Flowers on New Wood - Prune Early Spring
- Rarely Damaged by Deer
