Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Trendy Native Wild Lupine

Lupines are all the rage now, with their bold color and bolder presence in the landscape. People will notice and comment on this bright vertical accent as it blooms from blue to purple all along the eye-catching, foot-long flower structure.

Nature Hills is really pleased to offer the native Wild Lupine (Lupinus perennis) for massing in the garden border. A water-wise plant, it will do well in poor, well-drained soils.

This plant fixes nitrogen in the soil, so is a good partner plant for its neighbors. Pair it with other blue-toned tough prairie plants that will continue the season of bloom, such as Monarda or Purple Prairie Clover. Or contrast with one of the yellow blooming varieties of Black-Eyed Susan.

Once about a third of the bloom has opened, cut it and use it inside as a cut flower. You'll love watching it open fully inside in a special vase over the next several days.

The palmate leaves are also quite attractive, especially after a rainstorm. Water beads up on the leaves in a very attractive way. Get your cameras ready!

This beautiful native perennial brings pollinators, butterflies, and hummingbirds to your wildflower garden and perennial borders.

Wild Lupine is the only host plant for the Karner Blue butterfly caterpillar. This caterpillar is on the endangered species list.

Have deer? You'll love hearing that this one is deer-resistant.

Because it's a native plant, it does a little "too well" in certain areas. You don't have to worry when you order live plants from Nature Hills. We use Plant Sentry™ to follow all local, state and federal regulations for plants that can become invasive in your area.
