Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

A fast-growing cold tolerance shrub, Shining Sensation™ is guaranteed to add season-long color that thrives throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 8! The colorful foliage and lovely blooms are great, but the rebloom later in the summer or early fall is the icing on the cake!

Planting and Application:

Weigela are fantastic workhorses in the landscape and bring color to mixed-shrub beds and borders. Add pops of color with Shining Sensation™ spaced evenly along a walkway or stand a pair of vivid sentries at the entrance to your garden or driveway! Impressive specimens to add eye-catching focal points and accents in Perennial beds, Cottage gardens, and of course Pollinator borders!

Shining Sensation™ Weigela will dazzle you in large pots and planters around your patio and seating areas! Create low hedges and privacy when used in rows and strategically placed groupings, and really shake up your garden palette when mixed with chartreuse foliage shrubs! You'll boost curb appeal with a few of these shrubs in your front landscaping!

  • Attracts Butterflies & Hummingbirds
  • Unique Cut Flowers & Garden Texture
  • Great in Containers, Back Border, Vertical Interest & Specimens

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant in full sun for the best flowering, especially in the northern states to part shade in coastal regions. Weigela is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Plant Weigela in well-drained rich soil with moderate, regular moisture. Top dress with a thick layer of wood chip mulch, but please take care to ensure the mulch doesn't touch the stems directly.

It's amenable to pruning, so you can shape it as needed but because of its compact, dwarf size and naturally tidy form, you'll appreciate its low-maintenance nature! Rejuvenate your mature Weigela by pruning out the oldest, fattest stems down to the ground every three years or so. Leave the thin, young stems to provide the most amazing blooms for you!

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Well-Drained Enriched Soil & Mulched Beds
  • Prune After Flowering & Renewal Prune Every 3- 5 Years
  • Deer Seldom Bother These Cold Hardy Shrubs
  • Carefree & Easy to Grow & Pest Free
