How to Use Vinca Major in the Landscape
Add as a fascinating Spiller all around the edges of seasonal containers and window boxes. They'll look amazing in hanging baskets, too. Vinca is used all across the United States as annual vining plant in container gardens, window boxes and raised planters to soften the edges.
Go ahead, make your guests take a closer look!
Vinca major can also be used as a low, spreading groundcover through all your garden plantings. Ornamental groundcover plants like Vinca major grow thickly to suppress unwanted weeds.
The form plays beautifully off other plants. And the color contrasts well with purple, silver and evergreen foliage.
Create a flowering carpet by spacing 10 inches apart on center. Measure from the center of the first plant to the center of the next.
Plant them to cascade gracefully down the length of slopes. These tiny charmers look great, but they can also play a big role in retaining soil.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Vinca Major grows in either full sun or part shade. It will do best with at least 4 hours of direct sunlight a day.
It prefers moist soil that drains well. Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis.
There is no need to deadhead this little flower factory. However, you can simply snip back any growth that spills out over your sidewalks, as needed.
Add Vinca major to your landscape this season. You'll be so pleased with the quality of Nature Hills plant materials.
