The Eveline Veronica (Veronica longifolia 'Eveline') is one of the newer species of Veronica Speedwell available today and Nature Hills Nursery is proud to offer this elegant specimen! This easy-to-grow perennial has purplish-pink flower spikes that bloom throughout the summer months of June to September. The deep green foliage turns a beautiful purple-red in the fall. Truly gorgeous!

The gorgeous mounds of foliage and fall color almost make these plants as lovely when not in bloom as they are in a full flush of violet spires! Eveline's elegant slender blooms are densely-packed with tiny florets packed with nectar and are perfect for pollinators!

This Veronica is deer-resistant and does attract Hummingbirds and butterflies. It is heat and cold tolerant as well throughout USDA growing zones 4 through 9. Eveline thrives in a wide range of conditions and is so easygoing for even the most novice of gardeners. Spreading to 18 inches in width, these mounds are space-saving and reach a height of about the same.

Planting and Application:

This plant is easy to grow in sunny gardens, drawing pollinators and hummingbirds far and wide. For the biggest impact, wind rows of these vertical blooms throughout your garden borders, use in groupings in Rock Gardens, or in mass plantings - giving your vases and your pollinators ample blooms for greater enjoyment!

If you are looking for a showy perennial that produces gorgeous, purplish-pink flowers for a long period, then this plant is it! Use this plant in containers even if you don't have a yard or garden, your container gardens instead can allow you to delight in these blooms in planters around your seating areas, front porches, and sun-drenched balconies!

#ProPlantTips For Care

For best results plant this Veronica in full sun. Eveline Speedwell must have good drainage and requires low to moderate watering. Add 3-4 inches of arborist mulch for moisture retention and insulation. Deadheading promotes more blooms, so keep it re-blooming by pruning off old flower spikes as they fade. New growth will begin and in a few weeks, new flower spikes will emerge. In late autumn, once the foliage dies back after frost, you can prune the mound to remove excess debris.

  • Blooms Best in Full Sun
  • Well-Drained Enriched Soil
  • Regular Moisture Needs
  • Deadhead For Rebloom & Prune Mounds Late Autumn
  • Seldom Damaged By Deer or Rabbits
  • Easy-to-Grow

Order the slender-reaching blooms of the violet-pink Eveline Veronica Speedwell today at NatureHills.com and be delighted every summer with these fantastic perennials in your landscape!

Long blooming

Eveline veronicas are a great choice for a low maintenance planting area like mine. The purple flowers are very eye catching.

Hello Dug Out,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Eveline Veronica! We're delighted to hear that its long blooming period and vibrant purple flowers have made such a lovely addition to your low maintenance planting area. These plants truly bring beautiful color with minimal upkeep, making them a favorite for many gardeners who want a burst of stunning blooms without extra effort.

To keep your Eveline Veronicas thriving and blooming longer, make sure they receive about 6 hours of sunlight daily and that the soil is well-drained. Occasional deadheading can encourage continued flowering, and a light feeding in spring with a balanced fertilizer can help maintain their vibrant look throughout the season.

If you ever want tips on companion plants that complement your purple blooms or advice on pest and disease prevention, we’re always here to help!

Rooting for your garden’s success,

We’re delighted to hear how well it fits into your low maintenance planting area, especially with those vibrant purple blossoms adding that perfect pop of color. Plants that combine ease of care with extended blooming are truly treasures in any garden.

The Veronica has its good points and bad. I am in zone 5 and it stands up very well to the weather. I hardly have to water it. The deer do not seem to like it. Flowers beautifully. Biggest problem I have is it gets weedy looking after the first flush of blooms.

Hello Robbi,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with the Eveline Veronica! It’s wonderful to hear how well it holds up in your zone 5 climate—and particularly great that deer aren’t posing a problem for you. Your observation about it looking a bit weedy after the first flush of blooms is spot on; this is a common stage for Veronicas as older foliage can dull their overall appearance.

A helpful tip is to try a light trim or shear after flowering – cutting back the spent blooms and any leggy growth can encourage a tidier look and often promotes a second burst of flowering later in the season. Also, removing additional weeds when they start to show can keep your bed looking fresh overall.

If you’re interested, we have some care guides on Veronicas that provide detailed pruning schedules and landscape ideas that might assist with keeping your garden looking vibrant.

Wishing you happy planting,

Hi Robbi,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Eveline Veronica! We’re thrilled to hear it’s performing well in your zone 5 garden and holding up to the weather—and especially happy to hear the deer stay away, too. It’s wonderful that it’s blooming beautifully for you!

We understand your concern about the plant looking a bit weedy after the first flush of blooms. This can be a common occurrence with Veronicas as old flower stems and foliage age. To help keep the plant looking fresh and encourage a second bloom, we recommend “deadheading” the spent flowers by cutting them back to the nearest healthy leafy stem. Additionally, a light trim or a careful shaping can revitalize the plant’s appearance.

If the plant gets very dense further into the season, occasional thinning can promote better air circulation and reduce those leggier, weedy looks. You might also consider mulching around the base to help suppress weeds and retain moisture.

We’re delighted you've found an evergreen stand-out that fits well into your garden’s ecosystem! If you ever need more tips or would like suggestions for companion plants that complement Eveline Veronica in your zone 5 garden, we’re just a message away.
