Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

It was dusk, just as the sun was setting into the ocean. The guitarist was playing with lightning speed. The dancer was twirling in circles and her crinkled skirt was swirling around her like a cloud. She was mysterious and beautiful. Her dress was the color of this plant - deep plum purple and rich fuchsia-pink and also mysterious and beautiful!

First Editions® Twilight Magic™ Crape Myrtle Shrub PP#27,194 (Lagerstroemia 'PIILAG-VIII') is a big plant, both tall and wide! It commands attention in your garden, but not just from its grand size. The leaves and stems are an almost magical blend of green, plum, and burgundy.

Even when not in bloom this is a beautiful tree-form of the classic shrub! When it is in bloom, though, it's breathtaking! The heavily crinkled fuchsia-pink flowers bloom so exuberantly and stand out so starkly from the dark foliage that you can't help but stop to notice. Make sure you plant this where it can be seen and enjoyed. There will be admirers - both on two legs and with wings!

Planting and Application:

Twilight Magic™ makes a great foundation planting or garden backdrop, providing interest all year, whether from foliage, flowers, or bark! Anchor landscaping bed and borders, or soften the corner of your home or garage with one of these fantastic accent Crape Myrtle trees! Dress up any Cottage gardens, Perennial borders, Rose gardens, and mixed-shrub borders with these vibrant plants!

Growing 12-16 feet in height, a 'limbed up' form of this tree becomes a spectacular focal point on your front yard berm or in a curved bed. Plant in rows to create formal or informal border plantings, or line a pathway or your driveway with these long-flowering trees! Prune into sheared, trained forms, or are just as great in their natural, informal forms!

Ideal for luscious privacy, you will enjoy having your front yard screened off from the sidewalk and street, or hide that ugly eyesore or nosy neighbor with a row of these flowering ornamentals! Birds will love the high-end housing you've installed for them! The bright pink clusters of crepe-paper blooms attract plenty of pollinators and Hummingbirds, as well as anyone driving past your home!

  • Bright Fuchsia-Pink Blossoms In Full Clusters
  • Deep Dark Plum Foliage Won’t Fade
  • Pollinator Friendly Long-Lasting Blooms
  • Tree-Form Magic Series Myrtle!
  • Hedges, Specimens, Dramatic Garden & Landscaping Focal Points

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Crape Myrtle is easy to grow and simply needs full sun and well-drained soil. Provide a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Once established, this variety is not only drought-tolerant but also resistant to powdery mildew, making it versatile in a variety of conditions! These shrubby trees appreciate a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the soil surface.

Deadhead as soon as the flowers fade to clean up your plant's look and encourage a rebloom later in the season. Because they bloom on new wood, prune for size and shape during the late winter or early spring.

Like all the plants in the Magic™ series, the First Editions® Twilight Magic™ has excellent resistance to powdery mildew and leaf spot! Deer seldom bother them and Crape Myrtles are relatively pest and disease-free!

  • Best Flowering in Full Sun
  • Moderate Moisture - Drought Tolerant Once Established
  • Needs Well-Draining Soil
  • Prune Early Spring & Deadhead After Flowering
  • Deer & Pest Resistant & Easy to Grow!

Add mystery to your garden with this pink and plum beauty! If you are looking for a showpiece in your garden - something beautiful, mysterious and unforgettable - order the First Editions® Twilight Magic™ Crape Myrtle at Nature Hills today.

Single Stem, Multi Stem, Shrub Form, Oh My!

Before you buy, make sure you know what you're getting! Single-stem, multi-stem, and shrub forms are different so read a bit about which we're currently offering below.

Single Stem:

These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stems when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching. Sometimes, you will hear a single stem referred to as Tree Form.

Multi Stem:

These are plants with 2 or more stems planted together in the ground in close proximity to form a clump. There are times when multi-stems are formed by a tree that branches at the soil line with more than one main stem.

Shrub Form:

These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
