Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment

Growing Zones 3-8
Darling spring surprises! The Little Beauty Tulip (Tulipa 'Little Beauty') is a smaller variety with unique pointed petals in a rich reddish-pink and a bright violet blue-eyed center! Featuring slender soft green leaves and a clump that rarely exceeds 10 inches in height and width, these darling spring-flowering bulbs add joy to gardens and containers, indoors or out!
The fragrant little blooms attract bees and butterflies to their bi-color blooms and the tidy clumps gradually colonize areas in a polite manner, increasing in number as each year passes. You'll love the little nosegays and mini bouquets created from these darling blossoms! Force bunches indoors in a cloche or shallow dish for a break from winter doldrums!
Little Beauty Wildflower Tulips are darling little ephemerals that form small clumps that naturalize and spread into neat and tidy bunches throughout the sun garden. These fall-planted spring-blooming perennial bulbs are fast-growing throughout USDA growing zones 3 through 8.
Planting and Application:
Darling additions to mixed bulb gardens and spring mixed planters, these textural little blooms dress up the garden as edging in the spring or at the front of a cottage or perennial garden. Gladly showing off all spring until they gratefully shy away from the summer sun beneath the foliage of larger/later emerging perennials and shrubs for the rest of the year.
Use these compact cuties in containers, along the edge of your paths and walkways or in Rock gardens. Little Beauty Tulip's extravagant coloration looks lovely in evenly spaced rows or groupings of elegant color that feed the early emerging bees and butterflies. Plant them en masse and drifts to maximize their glorious blooms!
- Star-Shaped Pointed Red-Pink Blooms With Violet-Blue Centers
- Small Fine-Textured Foliage Clumps
- Compact Sized Perennial Bulb
- Naturalizes Beautifully!
- Edging, Front-of-the-Border, Containers & En Masse
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Bulbs require full sun and well-drained soil to do their best. Appreciating afternoon shade in warmer hardiness zones where the sun is intense. Any soil type is suitable so long as it is not soggy. Plant in the soil with pointed ends up 3 times as deep as the bulbs are tall with a few inches of space between bulbs for wiggle room to spread. Add bulb fertilizer to each hole for best results. Provide moderate moisture during drought and deadhead after flowers fade. But keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb and next year's flowers!
- Full Sun For Strongest Growth
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Mounds After Leaves Yellow
- Deer Seldom Bother Them
