Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Growing Zones 5-9
Are you looking for something new for your shady borders and beds? Something that will bring color and movement? You need to try the lacy Tuff Stuff Red™ Hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata SMNMAKTSR'). The beautiful semi-double to double florets are a delicious two-tone color and the compact habit is great, both for the front of the border and for your favorite containers.
This sweet Hydrangea has it all! Tuff Stuff Red™ has definitely earned its name. It has exceptional hardiness - both bud and stem - which keeps it more beautiful for a longer period of time. Deep rosy-pink and chartreuse green blooms cover the bush in early summer and re-bloom through fall. The bloom clusters form mounds and are held high on the strong stems.
This Hydrangea's blooms are pH-sensitive. More acidic soils will make the blooms purple to blue. Mountain Hydrangeas are very adaptable and versatile ornamental flowering shrubs! Sun or shade, they thrive in nearly any soil and in a wide range of conditions throughout USDA hardiness zones 5 to 9.
Planting and Application:
The full-sized flowers are born on compact plants that make this a very versatile ornamental shrub for your landscape. Besides being a great specimen plant it also is perfect for borders, hedges and mixed gardens. Cottage gardens and pollinator borders get a much-deserved update, while front yard foundation planting and backward patios get a breath of fresh air!
Try it in a woodland area or even in a sunny area. You won't go wrong by adding this beauty to your garden this year! This compact, sweet little plant even does well in a planter for your porch or in container gardens on balconies and patios! Tuck one by your mailbox or line to pathways and driveway with cheerful blossoms!
- Bi-color Scarlet Red & Green Blooms

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Mountain Hydrangeas thrive in both full sun and partial shade, but they favor afternoon shade in the hotter of the USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9. Plant in a well-drained, moist environment with a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the root system to keep it nice and cool. Prune Mountain Hydrangeas only immediately after the blossoms fade out you'll chance or you may run the risk of cutting off next year's flowers.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Moist Well-Drained Soil
- Appreciates Mulched Organically Enriched Beds
- Only Prune Right After Flowers Fade
- Blue in Acid Soil & Pink in Alkaline
