Butter yellow gems with soft ruffles on large butterfly landing pads! The Topaz Jewel Rugosa Rose (Rosa 'MORyelrug') features scented, free-flowering blooms that add a mellow hue to the garden! Cold-hardy vigorous plants that are low-maintenance, Topaz Jewel delights with clusters of blooms from late spring until frost.

The large yellow buds burst open into creamy yellow blossoms with a crown of golden anthers in the center. Mellowing to a creamy white as they age, the flowers have an incredible scent and long vase life for indoor bouquets. Backed by lush, deep-green foliage and strong canes, the ruffled semi-double blooms have a mild fragrance the pollinators adore!

Incredibly fragrant and abundant like Rugosa Roses, but this rare shrub is one of the few Rugosa that doesn't produce Rosehips. Wide-spreading 5-7 feet at maturity and growing 2-5 feet in height, these Rugosa Roses are hardy and easy to grow! Quickly growing and free-flowering, Topaz Jewel covers its crinkled, textured foliage with flouncy blooms that are supremely vital to pollinators and butterflies!

Planting and Application:

Healthy-sized shrubs like Topaz Jewel make for incredible hedging and privacy barriers. The thorny canes are an impenetrable screen that few wish to tangle with. Imagine a soft yellow border separating your front yard from the street or a neighbor's property!

Topaz Jewel fills large areas quickly with deep green foliage, perfect for back-of-the-border landscaping and creating garden hedges. Crown your hillsides with soft gold blooms to slow erosion and make a dangerous-to-mow slope into a gleaming spectacle fluttering with butterflies!

Plant in your Pollinator gardens, Cottage gardens, and as backdrops for Perennial gardens, or for softening the corner of your home's foundation or shed. Allow it to spill over rocky areas, Rock Gardens, and create wide-spreading mounds of beauty en masse.

  • Buttery Ruffled Soft Yellow Blooms
  • Hardy Rugosa Resilience
  • Wonderfully Fragrant & Pollinator-Friendly
  • Highly Adaptable & Easy to Grow
  • Hedges, Barriers, Pollinator Gardens, En Masse & Erosion Control

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Rugosa Roses are very tolerant of harsh conditions! They can tolerate wind, poor soil, and salt spray. Topaz Jewel grows best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Great air circulation, regular fertility, and a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch are all helpful to keep this shrub reblooming and carefree! Remove fallen leaves to help prevent disease and Rugosas respond well to pruning so it can be kept smaller if desired.
