Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 3-9
Grow an amazingly versatile groundcover just like an aromatic carpet! Creeping Thyme (Thymus praecox 'Coccineus') is an adaptable and hardworking accent plant that is aromatic from top to bottom (all 3-4 inches of its height anyway!). It's like jewelry for your garden! Not to mention perfuming the air! Herb-like, lemony and earthy could all describe the scent of Creeping Thyme. Grab a few snips of this plant's leaves and stems for your recipes! They'll perfume dried crafts and floral décor!
On a summer evening just follow the butterflies and bees! They will happily lead you to the Thyme in your garden. Rosy red flowers smother these mounds by the thousands, completely covering this thick, low-growing mat of tiny green-scented leaves! Get your butterfly and native bee identification guides ready - because you'll have many visitors once this gorgeous plant blooms!
These wondrously easy-to-grow creeping and flowering groundcovers add that special finishing touch to the garden! Drought, deer, sun - Creeping Thyme laughs in their face and it's cold-hardy too! Plant in gardens throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9 and watch these mat-forming flowering outdoor carpets slowly spread to their mature 10-12 inch flat mounds of beauty!
Planting and Application:
Did we mention how versatile this glamorous little Herb is? Perfect for scenting between pavers, or for planting between flagstones! Creeping Thyme is a finishing touch along garden edges throughout the sunny landscape! Pollinator gardens, Sensory Gardens, Vegetable beds, and Herb Knot Gardens all need a few of these wonderfully low-growing but visually stunning perennials!
Just rub your hand along the plant to encourage it to release its scent. Better yet, plant it where you can walk on it or kneel on it to work in your garden! The sensual smell makes any time you spend in the garden better. Excellent groundcover and living mulch, Creeping Thyme helps to suppress weeds, conserve soil moisture, and prevent erosion on slopes and hard-to-mow hillsides.
A strong grower, 'Coccineus' will tolerate mild foot traffic, making it ideal as a drought-tolerant lawn substitute and for small-space gardens. Try planting it in crevices on your steps, in the parking strip by your driveway, or in the transition areas between walkways and planting beds. It loves to spill over low walls, creep through crevice gardens, and ramble through Rock Gardens! One will even be a beautiful low spiller in planters and sunny patio containers!

#ProPlantTips For Care
Coccineus Creeping Thyme is easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun. It also tolerates drought, poor soils, and almost any soil as long as it is well-drained. Creeping Thyme is easily divided in spring or early fall, and even small pieces will take root and grow. Clean mounds in the very early spring before they begin to grow, and shear again right after the first spring bloom if desired.
- Tolerates Full Sun
- Almost Any Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Low Moisture Needs Once Established
- Prune Early Spring & Deadhead After Bloom If Needed
- Very Easy To Grow & Drought-Tolerant
