Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

This handsome Tall Bearded Iris features royal purple falls that blend to blue at the center with white veining around its yellow beards. This Prince wears a crown of soft lavender with incised gold margins. And while its high-contrast appearance astounds from afar, it also fascinates when examined up close. When you are examining this royal bloom, you'll love the sweet scent that it emits!

And while this Iris looks like it deserves a throne, you're not the only one who will swear allegiance to this tall, dark, and handsome Iris as bees and butterflies take notice and enjoy its presence, as well! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 9, this Tall Bearded German Iris variety can grow 35 inches tall and the sword-like foliage can form 12 - 18 inch wide clumps.

Planting and Application:

Iris are must-haves for the sunny garden and in both large and small landscapes! The bold blooms show off in the garden border each spring, bringing in the Pollinators and curious onlookers when banks, grouping, and backdrop rows are in bloom! Great space-saving elements to use along your driveway, pathways, and sidewalks, there is nothing like a row along your home's foundation!

The vertical foliage adds texture and greenery all growing season as a backdrop, edging, or facer plant when used throughout the landscape! Even in containers, once the gorgeous blooms fade as thrillers, the foliage adds a vertical element among the other plants in your container gardens!

Mix with other golden, white, and royal purple blooms for a showy Cottage and Perennial border, luxurious cut flower gardens, and happy Pollinator gardens! Easy to grow and quite tolerant to a wide range of conditions, these are n-brainer perennials for Rock Gardens, embankments, and en masse drifts in the sun, heat, and humidity without worrying about winter's chill!

  • Ruffled Lavender & Grape Blooms With Gold Accents & Intricate Patterning
  • Gorgeous Cut Flowers & Scented Container Specimens
  • Attracts Pollinators & Hummingbirds
  • Vertical Backdrops, Edging, Facer Plants, Accents & Massed Specimens

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Iris flowers best and prefer growing in full sun, but in hotter climates also appreciate afternoon shade and partial sun. The rhizomes rot in soggy conditions, so they need well-drained soil with medium to low moisture to grow well. Add a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch over their root zone. Deadhead when the blooms are done but keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb. As the years pass, you will want to divide and transplant the new Iris rhizomes every few years depending on how closely they're planted together.

Information About Bareroot Iris

Bareroot Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots. Container plants are well-grown in the nursery for several years in their container to establish a strong root system. This low-maintenance perennial does best when planted in fall.

When planting Iris, for best success, plant your Iris rhizomes with roots pointed downward and buried almost to the top of the rhizome, leaving some of its surface exposed. A layer of mulch, compost, or boughs from evergreens can help protect them during the winter.

  • Full Sun & Some Shade
  • Easy Care & Low Maintenance In Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
  • Deadhead In Spring & Prune Back After Foliage Yellows
  • Deer, Rabbit & Squirrel Seldom Bother These Perennials
