#ProPlantTips for Care:
Iris flowers best and prefer growing in full sun, but in hotter climates also appreciate afternoon shade and partial sun. The rhizomes rot in soggy conditions, so they need well-drained soil with medium to low moisture to grow well. Add a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch over their root zone. Deadhead when the blooms are done but keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb. As the years pass, you will want to divide and transplant the new Iris rhizomes every few years depending on how closely they're planted together.
Information About Bareroot Iris
Bareroot Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots. Container plants are well-grown in the nursery for several years in their container to establish a strong root system. This low-maintenance perennial does best when planted in fall.
When planting Iris, for best success, plant your Iris rhizomes with roots pointed downward and buried almost to the top of the rhizome, leaving some of its surface exposed. A layer of mulch, compost, or boughs from evergreens can help protect them during the winter.
