Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Graceful, exquisite, heavenly scented and heavenly hued, the Single Blue Freesia (Freesia 'Single Blue') is an ethereal lavender-blue bloom that is so easy care and easy to include in any landscape design, you'll wonder why you waited so long to acquire one! Your pollinators and hummingbirds will wonder what took you so long too! These flowers are adored for their ability to extend the late spring blooming season. They're also cherished as cut flowers that will last for up to three weeks as their flowers slowly open from the base of their racemes to their tips.

The Single Blue Freesia's buds have mastered the art and aesthetic appeal of repetition! Appearing in mid-spring and consistently opening from one day to the next. These balanced flowers offer an elegant addition to the garden, or to a floral arrangement! Because there are numerous buds per stalk that open consecutively from base to tip, they have a long-lasting presence everywhere.

Freesia are a spring staple. They are often considered among the best flowers for flower arrangements and spring containers. Single Blue Freesia, like other Freesia varieties, grows from delicate corms that survive warm winters in zone 9 and 10. Otherwise, we recommend using them in containers that can be brought indoors in other zones or used as annuals when planted in early spring. Let the Single Blue Freesia light up your spring with its inviting scent and refined beauty.

Planting and Application:

Freesias create a stunning show when planted in drifts or grouped in a front border. Plant several together for a fuller more impactful effect. They need lots of warmth and humidity so planting them along your foundation will be the perfect spot to keep them happy! This spring classic is a must in spring gardens and containers. These subdued flowers pair well with other Freesia varieties and accent a wide array of other garden bulbs, perennials and shrubs! These darling scented flowers are also fantastic gift plants!

The incredible coloration and fragrance will enliven any dull, boring spot in your garden. Let Freesia work its magic in your landscaping! Pots and planters gain spillers and fillers, cut flower gardens gain scented, long stems and your spring perennial gardens are enhanced with these delicate plants! These splendid purple flowers offer unique charm as front borders, in drifts, or as natural clumps.

  • Multiple Bluish Blooms per Flower Spike
  • Excellent Cut Flower & A Soft and Delightful Scent
  • Late Spring Blooms
  • Annual or Perennial Corms
  • Great for Pollinators & Hummingbirds
  • Beds & Borders, Gifts, Houseplants & Planters

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Freesia shines its brightest in full sun and thrives in quick-draining soil. Freesia corms are easy to grow in sandy, loamy, average, moist well-drained soil. When planted properly, they bloom profusely and won't disappoint you! You will want to find a warm spot in your garden. These spring beauties pop out of precious and delicate corms. Many Northern gardeners also use theirs as annuals to make planting easy or bring them in for the winter as houseplants. Deadhead after flowers fade and trim the leaves down when they turn yellow.
