Heat-loving vibrant green and yellow groundcover, the Angelina Sedum (Sedum rupestre 'Angelina') is your solution to all of these! This vigorous little trailing Sedum quickly forms a 6-inch mat that will crowd out weeds!

The small succulent foliage is held around the stem, and will turn golden orange or even a reddish hue in autumn! Also known as Stonecrop, Sedum features long-lasting blooms that are vibrant yellow and are beautifully star-shaped! With an all-summer bloom time, these keep blooming well into autumn. The brilliant summer blooms attract loads of bees and butterflies!

Heat and chill resistant throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 9, these hardy perennials only grow about 4-6 inches tall but spread up to 2 feet wide! First developed in a private garden in Croatia, Angelina Sedum is easy to grow, and you'll adore these mat-forming groundcovers for all your possible sun garden needs!

Planting and Application:

Do you love color and hate weeds? Want a layered look in your garden? Maybe you need to soften a rock wall or flagstone garden path? Or perhaps you're just looking for a cute 'spiller' for your container garden? Then you need an Angelina Sedum!

This is a great choice for beds and borders and the blooms make excellent cut flowers! Sun Gardens, Perennial beds and Pollinator gardens are fantastic sites for clumps or vibrant green groundcover. These readily naturalize large sunny areas when given the opportunity. Use them in your defensible spaces when planning fire-wise landscaping.

Fill dry and rocky soil and tricky areas quickly with these xeriscaping plants. That sun-baked hell strip along the road, driveway, or street. And add brilliance when spilling over a rock wall or retaining wall. Edge beds and borders or allow Angelina to creep and ramble throughout rock paths and between stepping stones.

Use this Sedum in a container on a hot deck or around your sunny planters on the patio. It will not mind missing a watering or two throughout the seasons! You can even use Angelina in your window box or hanging baskets for easy care spillers and brilliant color all summer! For a more layered look, pair Angelina with her little sister the SunSparkler® Angelina's Teacup Sedum!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Angelina prefers well-drained soil and to be kept on the dry side. Water regularly to get established, afterwards, they only need supplemental watering during times of extreme heat and drought! Plant it in full sun in well-drained soil. It will tolerate most soil types and is drought-resistant. Thriving in clay soils, gravel and sand, any soil in full sun that is dry to medium moisture is perfect for these plants! Typically growing as perennials, Angelina can be evergreen in warmer climates and in mild winters. Retaining their needle-like foliage and yellow flowers throughout the heat.

Low maintenance, Angelina only requires a shearing and clean-up in early spring, before you see new growth. For better moisture retention, add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil.

  • Best Color in Full Sun
  • Grows In Poor to Average Well-Drained Soil
  • Prune Back In Very Early Spring
  • Easy to Grow & Low Maintenance, Rabbit & Deer Resistant
  • Heat & Cold Tolerant, Drought Hardy

Be sure to order enough of these golden yellow beauties for your next project at NatureHills.com! Easy and versatile, the Angelina Sedum is almost the perfect plant!

Sedum-Angelina is absobutely beautiful. I planted it under a purple Japanese Maple on a slight hill. Everytime a piece is broken off by someone going slighly off the garden path it rolls down the hill and roots wherever it lands....free plants. Just dig up and relocate where you want them. Lots of contrast possibilities with reds, oranges, purples. Imagine it next to a dark purple Coleus. WOW!!!!Enjoy.

Hello Petals,

Thank you so much for sharing your delightful experience with Angelina Sedum! We love hearing how well it’s thriving under your purple Japanese Maple and especially with the “free plants” it generously offers by rooting as it rolls down the hill. Your unique way of putting this to use as a natural propagator is inspiring—and it’s true, the brilliant contrast between the vibrant green sedum and deep purples or reds like Coleus can create a stunning display.
