Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Ever tried Huckleberry pancakes? They are delicious!

Scarlet Ovation Evergreen Huckleberry (Vaccinium ovatum 'VacSid1') is a seriously cute little evergreen shrub! Developed in British Columbia and native to the Pacific Northwestern.

If you want to grow Blueberries, or already have some growing, you'll want to consider this unique pollinator partner for larger yields.

Scarlet Ovation is a native plant that attracts both butterflies and birds. The showy, pinkish-white flowers hang like tiny bells in rows along the stems. Hummingbirds are drawn to these nectar-filled blooms!

In spring, the new foliage emerges as a beautiful, bronze-red, which deepens into glossy green as it matures, even in partial shade. This compact selection is naturally rounded and looks handsome year-round, you'll enjoy the color transformation!

Early fall means your Huckleberry will be filled with loads of juicy blue-black fruit! The berries have a complex taste reminiscent of Blueberries, but with a bit more "tang", in a good way.

How to Use Scarlet Ovation Evergreen Huckleberry In The Landscape

Edible Landscaping for dual purpose gardening has become all the rage! Why shouldn't your landscape plants also make food?

Scarlet Ovation Evergreen Huckleberry's compact growth makes this a wonderful choice for low hedges, and along pathways. Shoring up the fronts of larger foundation plants.

The mounding habit looks lush and full all year. Looking spiffy in patio containers or flanking your front door. Just make sure the pots have excellent drainage.

Mixed shrub borders and among other perennial beds, the lower growing, tidy appearance is perfect for formal and informal applications! The evergreen, glossy foliage makes stems great additions to floral arrangements!

#ProPlantTips For Care

A full sun to partial shade tolerant evergreen shrub, Scarlet Ovation is a tough native. Tolerating slightly acidic soils that are well-drained, these love moisture but also do well in drier conditions once established. Hardy to growing zones 7 through 9.

No muss and no fuss, it's nearly maintenance-free. You'll enjoy loads of berries if the birds will let you get to them first.

Trim it for a more formal look, or let it go "wild" (it won't get rangy on you.)

We have a hard time keeping this interesting - and beautiful - variety in stock, so please order yours from Nature Hills Nursery today!
