Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 4-8
Welcome spring with the brightest flowering perennial groundcovers, Rocky Road Magenta Creeping Phlox (Phlox 'Rocky Road Magenta') adds vibrant pops of color to the landscape. Your winter-hungry eyes, and every pollinator that are out that early in the spring, will adore these incredible plants!
Brilliant blooms of deep magenta to purple, completely cover these pretty plants in spring, and the unique, spicy color definitely takes things up a notch. The foliage remains evergreen all year long in mild winter locations of USDA growing zones 3-8. Get your growing season started off right with these intense dark magenta-violet hues.
Order enough Rocky Road Magenta Creeping Phlox to complete your project. These special plants will grow into an outstanding flowering carpet for you. However and wherever you use them in your space, they are sure to make you smile. Robust, cold-hardy, and low-maintenance, this perennial comes back for you year after year. Enjoy the showy flowers as they blanket the low ground in your landscape.
Planting and Application:
Even after the star-shaped blooms are past, these mat-forming garden plants will play an important role for you. The needle-like foliage suppresses weeds and softens the edges of your perennial plantings. Fill voids or blank spaces between larger shrubs and use these low-growing perennials as living mulch that also blooms! These mats creep over the tops of retaining walls and down hillsides and slopes.
Add them as a hard-working, flowering groundcover or cascading plant throughout your sunny landscape. Let spill and ramble over rocks and stones or over the edges of your garden edging. Start a collection of all the fantastic shades of Creeping Phlox in a dry Rock Garden as your spring feature and accent. They'll be a good candidate for xeriscape landscapes after the roots get a chance to establish themselves in your soil during the first year.
A mass planting of Creeping Phlox gives you a wonderful, full look, on a much smaller scale. Even tiny yards can enjoy these special garden treatments. Space them 12 inches apart, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. Add additional rows in a zigzagging, staggered pattern to cover a larger area.
Plant a pair of Rocky Road on either side of the entrance to your perennial and cottage border. Bees flock to these early blooming nectar sources. Give them what they need, and they'll stay to help pollinate your fruiting and veggie plants, too! These space-savers also work in planters and container gardens as spillers!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Creeping Phlox blooms best in full sun conditions - at least six hours of sunlight for the most flowers and brightest color. This light-hearted plant won't give you any trouble if you provide well-drained soil, just don't plant this one too deep. Be sure to give them a regular schedule of supplemental water during their first year and apply water in a prolonged drought. We recommend you give them a nice, long drink before you winterize your sprinkler system in the coldest zones.
Apply a three-inch layer of mulch around your plant, but make sure to pull it back from the stems. In early spring, trim them back to shape them. Lightly deadhead the first flush of flowers if you want to encourage more flowers later in the season. While no plant is truly deer resistant, they do not prefer the taste of these plants. If you live in Deer Country, be sure to use Deer Repellent during planting, guided by the instructions on the label.
- Full Sun Blooms
- Regular Moisture & Well-Drained Soil
- Moderately Drought-Tolerant Once Established
- Cold Hardy & Easy-Care Plants & Widely Adaptable
