Spikey balls of brilliant yellow petals, you'll love having a garden full of Rip Van Winkle Daffodils (Narcissus 'Rip Van Winkle'), and you will wake to a revolution of bright yellow double-blooms! While somewhat rare, these Double Daffodils are growing in popularity for gardeners that enjoy variety and unique flowers! This variety may look like a 21st-century cultivar, but it's actually an heirloom. This dazzling fragrant beauty has been around longer than most, having been introduced sometime before 1884.
The Rip Van Winkle Daffodil blooms are anything but sleepy! With pointed petals and honey-yellow tones, mixed with deeper golden hues, this petite double will bring color to drowsy areas of your garden. Each of its fine and pointed petals has a slight twist for a graphic and spectacular impact! Try these unique blooms in little floral arrangements and nosegays to bring the cheer indoors!
Some think of this brilliant Daffodil as the taller, stronger, better-looking cousin of the Dandelion, but we wouldn't be caught dead comparing it to a weed. The gray-green foliage of the Rip Van Winkle Daffodil is also pleasant before and after the blooms appear. It will blend in with your grass and add a verdant glow to areas that need a touch of green. Once you catch a glimpse of this Daffodil in full bloom, you'll know there's no better way to ring in spring! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 9, these unique fast-growing blooms reach clumps just 6-8 inches tall!
Planting and Application:
Plant this sunshine-on-a-stem as a front border for early-spring ephemeral color. It also looks quaint and cute as a cut flower! Drifts of these fun flowers will light up your springtime yard and make your winter feel like it was just a dream. Plus you'll feed early-emerging pollinators and even the occasional curious hummingbird! Planted as a mass planting along a woodland area or rock garden, this festive Daffodil's blooms will dance and sway like bumblebees waiting to land!
The amazing Rip Van Winkle Tulip is a cheerful way to decorate your garden bed with a bright voluminous border, so imagine what they'll do in your home! Force bulbs indoors, plant outdoors, either way, you'll enjoy these lovely blooms and their alluring scent. These long-lasting flowers make a splash as cut flowers in bouquets.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Bulbs require full sun and appreciating afternoon shade in warmer hardiness zones of 3 - 9 where the sun can be intense. Fall-planted bulbs need well-drained soil with moderate moisture needs. Any soil type is suitable so long as it is not soggy and add bulb fertilizer to each hole for best results. Deadhead after flowers fade, but let the leaves remain so they can make food for the bulb and next year's flowers!
- Full Sun For Strongest Growth
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Mounds After Leaves Yellow
- Deer Seldom Bother Them
