Bright true-red crinkly flower clusters smother the Red Rocket® Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica 'Whit IV') all summer long! Pollinator-friendly blooms keep popping until autumn, and grow fast in the sun landscape for appeal throughout the growing season and beyond!
A successful stable red flowering selection, Red Rocket® has dark green leaves that emerge crimson-red and in the fall have great orange and red fall color. Peeling bark on older stems of this single-stemmed form is an interesting attribute for winter interest!
Highly drought-tolerant once established and developed to be mildew resistant, Red Rocket® Crape Myrtles grow 18-20 feet in height and spread 12-18 feet wide. With low branching to the ground, these shrubs are great screening, but you can 'limbing-up' by pruning into a single trunk or shrub form specimen!
Planting and Application:
Red Rocket® Crape Myrtles are incredibly bold red focal points in either their tree or shrub form! The fantastic color shines for weeks and attracts loads of butterflies and attention. Plant anywhere you want to turn heads and distract from eye sores. Block the messy neighbor's yard, or the HVAC unit while softening the corner of your home, or block the view of your front yard from the street while boosting curb appeal.
Allow the lower branches to grow to the ground for a perfect privacy screen. Red Rocket® is a truly unique hedge plant or backdrop so the season-long color highlights everything else planted before it! It makes a terrific naturally shaped flowering screen along the pool deck, or adding privacy around a patio.
Use red Crape Myrtles as a vibrant living fence or outdoor garden room. This sun lover can take hard pruning to keep it shorter! Try it along the length of your property line, or plant it along driveways or fences. How nice to boost the height of your hardscaped fence and gift your family a very welcome feeling of respite from prying eyes!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Crape Myrtles are very adaptable and are easy to grow in full sun with the drying power of the morning sun. However, you'll be delighted to know this specimen is mildew resistant, so it may not experience the troubles other Crape Myrtles do. Crapes thrive in many soil types and climate conditions. Once established, these are drought-tolerant! In early spring, prune back or trim to shape as desired.
- Full Sun & Good Air Circulation
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture - Low Once Established
- Prune Early Spring
- Improved Powdery Mildew Resistance

Single Stem, Multi Stem, Shrub Form, Oh My!
Before you buy, make sure you know what you're getting! Single stem, multi stem and shrub forms are different so read a bit about which we're currently offering below.
Single Stem:
These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stem when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching. Sometimes, you will hear a single stem referred to as Tree Form.
Multi Stem:
These are plants with 3, 4, and sometimes 5 or more stems planted together in the ground close to form a clump. There are times multi-stems are formed by a tree that branches at the soil line with more than one main stem.
Shrub Form:
These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
