Early spring blooms that rival Roses? Double Red Ranunculus (Ranunculus asiaticus 'Red') are double the tightly packed concentric petals, double that of your regular Red Ranunculus! Featuring twice the silky purple elegance, your Rose bushes will be green with envy! With multiple blooms per plant, each packed with petals that look like they were shaped one at a time by a skilled artisan!
Double Reds' spring blooms last several weeks, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to create lovely bouquets and watch bees and butterflies try and squeeze between the silken layers upon layers! As a Persian Butter Cup (or Buttercup), this variety of Ranunculus, will produce more blooms than other varieties, each packed with double the petals!
Featuring fine-textured leaves that resemble Parsley foliage, Butter Cups form low-growing clumps. Ranunculus grow from a type of bulb called a corm, and are outdoor hardy throughout USDA growing zones 8 - 11 for perennial enjoyment. Northern growers can enjoy Double Red Buttercups as annual accents or treat them as you would Canna Lily or Dahlia and dig them in the fall and store them in a frost-free yet cool dark location.
Planting and Application:
These gorgeous plants create single-variety mass plantings for a spectacle that really shows off! When in bloom, bees and butterflies appear to sip the nectar. When planted outdoors, Double Red Butter Cups' spring and early summer blooms add vibrant color! Plant in clusters, as a border row for edging in perennial and cottage gardens, or as groupings running along your walkways or cut flower garden.
Loving the sun, your porch and patio planters become brimming in romance with these voluminous blooms! Double Red is a fantastic annual accent and a great container plant for both northern and southern growers alike! One pack of bulbs will provide you with plenty of cut flowers for romantic bouquets!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Ranunculus thrive in full sun and a touch of afternoon shade in hot climates and will return each spring to greet you with purple blooms. Hardy perennial corms throughout USDA growing zones 8 to 11, Buttercups will thrive in containers if you live in a zone that freezes in the winter. Provide moderate moisture and well-drained soil that won't get soggy. These spring corms hide once summer heat kicks in, so deadhead after the flowers fade but keep the foliage to make food for the corm. Later, trim the leaves down when they turn yellow.
For best results, soak your Ranunculus tubers for three to four hours in room-temperature water before planting. Plant the warm weather corms in the spring with the finger-like structures pointed down, about 6 inches deep and water them in.
