Fast Growing Shrub Loves Wet Areas

The Pink Pussy Willow, Salix discolor rosea, this form of Pussy Willow has the most unique, pale pink catkins. This is a very fast growing shrub and is suitable for wet areas. Best of all, it grow well in almost any soil.

They require full sun to really thrive, but will tolerate the shade as well. As with most Willows, they do best when given lots of water. Although they can be allowed to grow unpruned, the plant will benefit from regular pruning after blooming.

Flowers form on the previous season's growth, not on new growth, so do not prune until the flowers have faded. For early blooms for forcing and floral arrangements, cut branches of Pussy Willows may be brought in and set in a water filled vase in a sunny window anytime after the middle of January.

The catkins will develop and make a nice display for a considerably long time. These shrubs always sell out fast. Buy yours today!

Fast growing

Our pink pussy willow grew very fast and that has let us use the branches for cuttings to bring inside for early pink catkin flowers. That seems to make spring come earlier in our cold country. Like you said, I cut some of the branches off in January and placed them in water by a warm window and it was not long before I had spring, inside the house that is.
