To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Plus all the true Peony scent, the long-lived endurance, and the cold hardiness of their cousins!
Mature plants have loads of buds atop strong stems and skirted in lush, heavily lobed, glossy green foliage all summer long, Purple Sensation is an as vivid and graceful shrubby plant! You'll enjoy having soft unique blossoms for your pollinators and more for unique bouquets too!
This plant is very long-lived, with the potential to survive for up to 50 years after maturing when properly taken care of! Itoh Peonies were created by cross-breeding herbaceous Peonies with Tree Peonies, creating a fantastic new hybrid. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 through 8, these flowering rhizomes have thick, fleshy roots with several 'eyes' each!
Planting and Application:
This shrubby flowering ornamental could be used to border walkways or beds if used in an urban garden, Grow Purple Sensation scattered amongst cottage gardens, Rose gardens, and perennial borders for a lovely texture and color play! Create rows and borders throughout the garden, the foliage lending fine textured backdrops all growing season!
Herbaceous Peonies can produce dozens of gorgeous flowers once given time to properly mature! Itoh Peony bushes are great for bouquets and last close to a week in a vase and longer on the plant - what a great way to show off their refreshing lemony scent! Pollinator gardens and cutting gardens are perfect locations for these large blooms!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Also known as intersectional Peonies, Itoh Peony rhizomes have the strongest stems in full sun and grow best away from trees and shrubs, as competition for nutrients and moisture inhibits their growth. Plant in an enriched, well-drained environment. It is pretty low maintenance and prefers average moisture, in a decently sheltered environment for optimum growth, that also has good air circulation.
The enormous blooms of this flower catch rainfall may become weighed down. Consider staking to help support the stems against storms and the driving summer rain. Put down a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch chips around the base of your plant to hold in more moisture. For continued healthy growth, Deadhead the faded flowers and wait to trim down the foliage as the leaves begin to fade in the fall.
