Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Purple and maroon ruffles and incredible scent and flavor! The Purple Ruffles Basil Herb Plants (Ocimum basilicum 'Purple Ruffles') will delight you in the garden as much as they will delight you in your favorite recipes! These rich maroon and purple leaves are gorgeously ruffled and frilly! Annual accents with triple garden duty are ideal for edible ornamental landscaping, and fresh or dried use in the kitchen!
The incredibly redolent foliage explodes with that true Basil aroma any time you brush past it. Your hands will be scented as you harvest and pinch back your plants, making even the simplest garden chores an absolute pleasure! But Purple Ruffles Basil is also gorgeous to behold! The deep green leaves are heavily tinted in purple and maroon hues that vary on the top and bottom of each leaf!
Retaining its gorgeous coloration when dried, cooked, and used in fresh preparations, Purple Ruffles Basil is as ornamental in the garden bed, veggie garden, and porch planter as it is useful in the kitchen! Not hardy, these annuals are fast-growing and provide you with all the fresh flavor for your summer and fall cooking needs, plus more to harvest and dry for winter and spring use!
Planting and Application:
If you haven't pinched them back in a while, you will delight in seeing small spires of white blossoms that attract butterflies and bees, providing inviting scents and flavors for both you and your pollinators! For a full and bushy plant though, and plenty to harvest all season, keep your plant pinched back and flower-free to produce more of that fantastic foliage!
Lush, fragrant and perfectly sized for tucking into empty spots throughout Perennial and Cottage garden beds and borders, or make your own Kitchen and Herb Garden! Mix among Roses, Purple Ruffles Basil lights up the garden as a companion plant that goes beyond the Herb border! Mix among your Peppers, Root vegetables and Tomatoes, cut flower border, and among Roses for frilly accents and fillers.
Pot up and bring it indoors to keep your plant growing all winter on a bright sunny windowsill or keep in a greenhouse for fresh Basil any time! Container and planter gardens on porches and patios, balconies, and in a planter by the barbecue pit; all accommodate this smaller-sized annual accent with ease!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Herb plants need full sun for the most vigorous growth and are best planted in the spring. Choose an enriched, compost-enriched, well-drained soil and mulch around the plant to help keep down weed competition. Snip off blooms as they form (...and eat them or use as garnish) to keep the plant producing more leaves. For plants that are expected to come back each year, snip back these herbaceous perennials low in late autumn to remove dead leaves. Plants in cold frames can be pruned back in early spring to encourage a fresh flush of new growth.
