Big trusses of frilly pink blooms, the Pink Ruffles Rhododendron (Rhododendron x 'Pink Ruffles') fills out each spring with clusters of fluttering, radiant rose-pink, semi-double blossoms that seem to glow in the sun or shade! Pollinators adore these nectar-rich fummel-shaped blooms and a few curious hummingbirds will arrive as well! The lightly speckled interiors only add to their delight!
When Pink Ruffles finished blooming, but that's when you get to enjoy the lush broad-leaf evergreen foliage that fills out the entirety of these 4-6 foot tall and nearly as wide growing shrubs! In cooler growing zones, the foliage may exhibit semi-evergreen tendencies, especially after unseasonably cold autumns and winters.
Rhododendrons are heat and humidity-tolerant early spring bloomers! Thriving throughout USDA growing zones 7 to 9, there is little that fazes these tough flowering ornamentals! Deer seldom bother these plants, but it's a good idea to train deer that your plants taste bad from day one by treating them with deer repellent from the time of planting them!
Planting and Application:
The Pink Ruffles Rhododendron is a gorgeous spring addition to mixed borders and low hedges along property lines and as foundation plantings! The evergreen foliage is an incredible year-round backdrop to garden borders and for property definition at the edges of the woodland border!
You can even create a special Garden Room using a series of these as privacy and "living walls" to surround all sides of your space. Their love of dappled shade makes these wonderful understory shrubs!
Brilliant specimens for front yard landscaping, Pink Ruffles lights up the landscape as garden bed anchors, or focal points to add rose-pink blooms to your front berms! Even if you have a small courtyard or urban lot, these Rhododendrons light up smaller areas in the ground or in large planters!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Rhododendron needs partial shade to perform their best, favoring afternoon shade when all-day dappled sun isn’t available. Preferring moisture-retentive, well-drained, organically enriched acidic soil, be sure to top their shallow roots with a 3-4 inch thick layer of pine bark mulch to keep them growing cool and protected. Prune these evergreen shrubs immediately after they flower if any trimming needs to be done since Rhododendrons bloom on last year's old wood.
- Partial Shade/Partial Sun
- Adaptable to Most Well-Drained Soil Types
- Moderate, Regular Moisture
- Provide Mulched Beds
- Prune After Flowering
- Deer Don't Prefer The Taste
