New tree-form plants are growing ever more popular! Taking a beloved shrub and training or grafting it onto a straight standard trunk, lifts the blooms to eye level and beyond! And that is what our expert growers have done with the Pink Chiffon® Rose of Sharon Tree Form (Hibiscus syriacus 'JWNWOOD4') features semi-double blooms.

Lavishly large, single pink flowers are ornamented with a whiskery touch of deeper red and bedecked with a fluffy, lacy center. They stay small and deliver breezy charm for high-profile locations throughout your landscape.

Nature Hills growers are some of the very best in the country! They've taken many years to sculpt one of the brightest Proven Winners® flowering shrubs into this delightful patio tree! Related to Tropical and Hardy Hibiscus, Rose of Sharon (also known as Althea) are just as tropical looking, easy care for, and resilient!

The longer you look, the more you'll adore the gorgeous shade and texture of these frilly, anemone-like flowers. Whether you call it cotton candy, Barbie, or clear, this purposeful shade of pink is very fetching. It easily brings life to your landscape.

Everyone looks great when washed with a pink reflection. That's why fancy restaurants use pink light bulbs, after all! You'll have no color fading on these tender-pink blossoms. The flower power starts in summer and lasts for months into fall.

The modern Pink Chiffon® Hibiscus Tree Form will produce months of tropical-looking blooms with proper care. Low maintenance and hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 9, these 8-12 foot tall trees only spread to a space-saving 4-6 feet in width at maturity. But you can always prune them to any size that works best in your landscape!

Planting and Application:

Decorate your landscape with these special small trees that return and bloom in profusion year after year. This is a perfect size for a courtyard specimen. Add Pink Chiffon® as a very effective focal point in that space. Good planning is important! Look for ways to utilize their blooming display to your advantage.

Keep it in a planting bed, or use a large container by the side of your doorway. You can use their shade by placing a petite seating area to their north or west side. It won't take much to be able to graciously receive a few guests in your front yard. Reclaim this space for a cup of coffee with a few friends or neighbors. Small space gardens must work hard to please people.

This is the plant that can actually fit into your sunny side yard and cover that bathroom window, for heaven's sake! Or, give yourself something pretty to look at from the kitchen window as you do the dishes. Plant them in a mulched bed to add a fun visual layer at the edge of evergreen trees. Great design adds a sense of anticipation and journey to your landscape. Try winding a narrow path to a private garden room with living walls.

These darling trees can also decorate a Children's Garden or Pollinator border. They are just the right size, after all! Watch butterflies visit day after day. Use a sweet row of these terrific trees on the "company side" of your annual Victory Garden or Backyard Orchard for larger harvests with help from the precious, ruffly blooms. On properties with mature landscaping, you can add a few Pink Chiffon® Tree Forms for color.

Use one or many more to create focal points in your landscape. Grow them in the ground, or use them as a "Thriller" in an extra-large container. Add them to your porch, patio, balcony, or deck. Accentuate your entryway, or screen off unsightly modern views.

Gift these to celebrate the birth of a baby girl! Or gift them to yourself because it's Thursday.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The needs of these easy-to-grow Rose of Sharon trees are simple! Site them correctly, and you'll probably wind up naming them and babying them, just like they are a little family plant pet.

You'll enjoy the most flowers and the boldest color if they receive at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. Pink Chiffon® Rose of Sharon Tree Form also needs well-drained soil that stays evenly moist. Apply a slow-release fertilizer for flowering plants when you are done. Please follow the application rates on the label directions. Add a three-inch layer of wood chip mulch over the root system. Apply a medium amount of water on a regular schedule. Easy-peasy!

Sure, sometimes pruning a Rose of Sharon Tree Form can seem daunting but we promise it's not all that difficult! Each year in the early spring, take a pair of sharp shears and evaluate the size and age of your tree. If it's a smaller, younger, tree, make 45-degree angled cuts to reduce the overall size to a two to three-foot rounded sphere on top of the standard. For larger, older, trees, you can just reduce the overall size to a three to four-foot rounded sphere. This will allow for a little more size. Renewal every few years to maintain vigor and keep those blooms prolific!

Colder growing zones actually hinder seed production, making this plant nearly sterile. Use Pink Chiffon® anywhere in your yard without worrying about nuisance seedlings. However, in warmer regions, these can be a bit messy because they have so many seedlings that sprout nearby. Simply deadhead your shrub after flowers fade and remove those seedheads before they mature to combat this.

  • Most Blooms in Full Sun
  • Moderate Moisture Needs - Somewhat Drought Tolerant
  • Easy-Care Plant Tolerates Humidity, Poor Soil & Salt
  • Not Favored by Deer
  • Produce Few, If Any Seeds

Effortlessly boost the look of your landscape! Don't miss out on this year's crop of Proven Winners® Pink Chiffon® Rose of Sharon Tree Form. We've lavished years of care into these and will run out of inventory quickly. Nature Hills will run out of our limited supply quickly. Order yours today!

Tree Form vs. Shrub Form

The details make all the difference in a garden. At Naturehills.com, we understand that little things like what form a plant is can greatly impact how you plan your landscape. So before you buy, don’t forget to check which form you're getting.

Tree Form:

These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stem when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching to a more desired height. Sometimes, you will hear a tree form referred to as a single stem.

Shrub Form:

These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
