Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

#ProPlantTips For Care

Duchesse de Nemours Peony is a herbaceous Peony that will grow up to 3 feet tall with 3 feet wide. It has a robust, upright-growing nature and is tolerant of a wide range of conditions.

Doing well in full sun, the glossy leaves shine in the sun and the satiny blooms seem to shine! Duchesse de Nemours has been a garden favorite for 150 years! Being around for that long, you can be sure this is one strong, dependable plant!

Incredibly hardy and tough, Peony is widely adaptable to their surroundings and changes in their environment. Forming a neat and lush clump that won't stray from where it is planted, there is no need for division, Peony can be left undisturbed for years!

Adaptive to a wide variety of soils, Duchesse Peony root systems will always need well-drained soil, however, are not particular about soil type. Soggy soil and wet conditions will cause your Peony to chance root rot.

Duchesse de Nemours is extremely cold tolerant! Northern gardeners to winter hardiness zones of 3 and up will be delighted to know how tough this plant is! However, even warmer growing zones up to 8 will get to enjoy these luxurious blooms!

After your Duchesse de Nemours has finished flowering, you can still count on a lovely green shrub for the remainder of the growing season. Remove spent flowers to keep your plant neat and tidy. That is of course if you haven't picked them all already for your bouquets!

After frost, Duchesse de Nemours the green foliage may turn yellow and then brown, dying back to the ground as all herbaceous perennials do.

Once they have fully died back, trim all of the stems right down to the ground level and remove all debris in the fall to prevent disease next year.

Very hardy and extremely long-lived, Peony shrubs have stood the test of time. These tough plants have been known to live for 50 years! Our love for them hasn't waivered much either, considering these wonderful plants have been around for centuries!

Bare root Peonies are shipped as nice 3-5 eye bare root divisions. Their woody roots are not uniform, so it is normal for each to look slightly different.

Plant with the eyes just below the surface of the soil with the woody roots spread out underneath. Once buried, water and mulch thoroughly.

Imagine the sight and scent of the elegant Duchesse De Nemours in your home this year! These romantic plants are a mainstay for most old-fashioned gardens and no Garden of the Senses should be without one (or more!).
