Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Top of the class! The Top Brass Peony (Paeonia 'Top Brass') has one of the most interesting blooms of all peonies. Outer ivory white petals surround a ball of bright yellow with tufts of smaller light pink petals pushing out of the top, creating a flower like no other.

Blooming in late Spring above the glossy, deep green foliage, the unique flowers of the Top Brass Peony emit a light honey-like scent, which attracts pollinators. The rounded, lush green foliage reaches a height of 2 to 3 feet at maturity, providing the perfect backdrop for the blossoms as well as setting the stage for other plants.

That classic sweet and strong Peony scent is highly sought after by all! Now imagine that wonderful fragrance filling your gardens, or perfuming any room that a few of these lovely blossoms are in! These Peonies are widely adaptable and do well throughout the USDA growing zones 3 through 8! As long-lived perennials, they'll outlast most others in your yard.

Landscape Application:

All season, the foliage works as a great facer plant to hide 'leggy', bare branches of larger shrubs. Peony also creates a lovely skirt around ornamental trees and accents in the garden! Try planting the Top Brass Peony in a short hedge or in small groups along a border near your outdoor living space, so you can truly appreciate their amazing color and fragrance!

Plant the Top Brass Peony in your cutting garden for armloads of fragrant blossoms every spring! Just like all Peony, Top Brass is the perfect, showy addition to an English Cottage garden and mixed perennial border. Top Brass is just radiant in the full sun, especially when smothered in the pollinators that will be fluttering around them! This Peony will have all the butterflies heading for your pollinator garden beds!

Add a row to your sunny areas and along a walkway or path. You'll also wish to keep one close to seating areas so you can enjoy that lovely fragrance! Go grand with a whole bouquet fit for a blushing bride or as simple as a single bloom floating in a bubble bowl, the Top Brass Peony is sure to brighten and perfume everywhere!

These radiant beauties look even more stunning when paired with other Peonies as she does among a mixture of other shrubs. Fitting in among Roses, perennials, and even wildflowers and spring bulbs! Looking perfect in both informal and formal gardens, as a stand-alone specimen, or mingling happily among others, Top Brass shines wherever it is planted!

  • Gorgeous Soft Pink Bowl Shaped Blooms
  • Pink & Yellow Frilly Centers
  • Butterflies Love Them
  • Enchanting Fragrance
  • Strong Stems - Wonderous Cut Flowers
  • Beds & Borders, Massing, Specimens & Gorgeous Edging & Facer Plants

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Bareroot Peonies and container plants need full to partial sun exposure and perform best in well-drained, rich soil. Provide regular moisture to new plantings their first year, but once established, become quite drought tolerant due to their deep hardy roots. Mulch is all plant's best friend so add a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist bark chips around your plantings.

The Top Brass Peony maintains deer and rabbit resistance and is relatively pest-free. Ants on Peony buds are very common and completely harmless. Peonies, in general, are super easy to grow and low maintenance.

Care is simple! Deadheading the spent blooms so the foliage remains a handsome attribute to the garden for the rest of the season, and after frost when the foliage goes dormant, cut all stems and remove all of the season's growth right down to the ground and discard the debris not letting fungal issues or powdery mildew overwinter with the plant.

Planting Bareroot Peony

Bareroot Peonies are shipped as nice 3-5 eye root sections. Their woody roots are not uniform, it is normal for each root to look slightly different.

Plant with the eyes just below ground level, with the woody roots spreading out beneath. Once buried, water well and mulch thoroughly to hold in moisture and keep the roots cool in the summer heat. The proper planting time for your Peony is late autumn or early spring.

  • Full Sun & Some Partial Shade
  • Well-Drained Rich Soil
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
  • Deadhead After Flowers Fade
  • Cut Entire Plant Back In Late Fall & Remove Debris
  • Rarely Damaged by Deer or Rabbits
