Let the stunning Pendolino Olive Tree (Olea europaea 'Pendolino') transport you to the mild climates and romantic landscapes of the Italian coast! A specimen tree with an elegant weeping habit, unique fruit and an eye-catching form!

The Pendolino takes its time when it comes to growth, but the olives and stunning shape are worth it! Besides, Olive trees are long-lived; it is not unusual to find trees 200-years-old or older in gardens! This self-fertile tree produces small, bright-green fruit appearing early in the season and transforms to deep purplish-black.

While known for its self-fertility, the Pendolino is often paired with the Leccino to increase production, and it’s often recommended for pollinating all other Italian varietals! Producing a mild-flavored olive, it’s often blended with other, more defined flavored olives. Yielding about 23% oil that’s subtle, light-flavored, and referred to as green or fruity, typical of the Italian olive oils!

Planting and Application:

The long, weeping branches support narrow, stiff evergreen leaves that stand upright. Each features a soft silver underside that glints in the sun. The dense canopy is vase-shaped with an abundance of foliage, shown off by attractive gray bark.

Most home gardeners use their Pendolino as a specimen tree. For indoor container plants, choose a location with plenty of direct sunlight away from heat sources such as stoves and heater vents. An attached sunroom is ideal in most climates. Water less often in the winter because of its slower growth rate.

  • Known for early production. Once matured, produces over 20 lbs of olives
  • Universal Olive pollinator tree
  • Two-tone glossy evergreen foliage & silvery light green undersides
  • Bold weeping, vase-shaped form - perfect Edible Landscaping & Specimen tree
  • Tasty olives turn from green to deep nearly blackish-purple
