To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Bare Root Plants
Bare root plants are sold by height from the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may exceed minimum height requirements.

The domed cluster of pale yellow anthers is a huge draw for pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds! All seek out the alluring scent.
The late spring to summer blooms of the Itoh Peony still have that sweet, lemony Peony scent, the long-lived endurance, and the cold hardiness of their Peony cousins but with the strong stems of their tree Peony family. Enjoy decades of blooms for floral bouquets and landscape enjoyment!
Peony plants are very long-lived, and can potentially survive for up to 50 years when properly taken care of! Itoh Peony was created by cross-breeding herbaceous Peonies with Tree Peonies, creating a fantastic new hybrid! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 through 8, these ornamental flowering rhizomes have thick, fleshy roots with several 'eyes' each.
Planting and Application:
Peonies and poppies are beloved by both florists and butterflies and bees which will be delighted to clamber around in the pollen-rich anthers at the center of each gorgeous bloom! Just a few blooms in a vase are outstanding focal points, and these blooms are wonderful ornaments in the sun garden. Use along walkways as space-saving filler for a scented journey along your footpaths and around your garden!
Peonies are wonderful green, leafy shrubby accents both in bloom and throughout the growing season. They fill out fast in leafy green mounds and are reliable foliage backdrops for their own blooms as they are great fillers and garden backdrops in the landscape! Remaining beautiful long after the flowers fade.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Itoh Peony rhizomes have the strongest stems in full sun and grow best away from trees and shrubs, as competition for nutrients and moisture inhibits their growth. Plant in an enriched, well-drained environment. It is pretty low maintenance and prefers average moisture, in a decently sheltered environment for optimum growth, that also has good air circulation.
The enormous blooms may need staking to help support the stems against storms and the driving summer rain. Put down a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch chips around the base of your plant to hold in more moisture. For continued healthy growth, Deadhead the faded flowers and wait to trim down the foliage as the leaves begin to fade in the fall.

Bareroot Peonies are shipped as nice, 3-5 eye bareroot divisions. Their woody roots are not uniform, it is normal for each root to look slightly different.
