Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Drifts of tiny pink and white blooms and low mounds of equally tiny gray-green leaves make the scented Orange Thyme (Thymus citriodorus) a real winner! These hardy perennial Herbs form carpets of aromatic greenery and honeybee-friendly blooms with a unique citrusy-thyme scent and flavor.

Multi-purpose perennials, Thyme is cold and heat-tolerant, handles a bit of foot traffic, and is wonderfully versatile in the kitchen! Thyme was widely used in home medicine as an antibiotic and medicine, to treat skin ailments, colds, and flu. Ideal for soups and stews, meat dishes, sauces, and gravy, while boosting the nutritional value of any recipe you include it in!

Wildly fragrant Orange Thyme is a hardy groundcover perennial Herb that can be used both fresh or dried for later use. Plant in any xeric and well-drained soil in USDA growing zones 4 through 9. The sensual smell makes any time you spend in the garden better - its herbal, orangy-citrusy, and medicinal could all describe the scent of Thyme.

Planting and Application:

A strong grower, Orange Thyme can tolerate mild foot traffic and perfumes your every step when planted between pavers and pathway stones. Try planting it in crevices on your steps, in the parking strip by your driveway, or in the transition areas between walkways and planting beds. It loves to spill over low walls.

Herbs are ;easy-care perennial accents! Drought tolerance makes Thyme ideal for use in the Rock Garden, as a lawn substitute, or in hot, dry, xeric sites, the hell-strip along the road, or as living mulch rambling between larger perennials and shrubs. Use in containers for a wonderful flowering spiller and scented filler. Just rub your hand along the plant to encourage it to release its scent.

They just require full sun outdoors, or bright indirect light when indoors. Plant in a location that has very well-drained soil and water regularly until established. These are very drought-tolerant and xeric plants and handle tougher sites and rocky soil. For best results, plant in enriched soil and mulch to keep the roots cool.

To use, just trim off what you need throughout the growing season. Pinching back keeps the plants from getting leggy and encourages branching. Before frost, container plants can be brought in for the winter in cold hardiness zones, or completely harvest your plants near the base of the plant. Wash and hang them to dry, so you can use your Herbs all winter!
