Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Want Orchids for your outdoor garden but find them too difficult to care for? Then you want to pick up a few Novelty Butterfly Belinda Gladiolus (Gladiolus 'Novelty Butterfly Belinda') and enjoy the best of both worlds! Unlike other Gladiolas, these red, backward-curving petals have white edging that blends in a feathery fashion. But the real kicker is that the top two petals form a cupped hood over each bloom!

These Butterfly-friendly blooms can stand two foot tall or more, adding vertical vivid color to your container plantings and garden beds and borders! Space-saving plants, even the foliage is vertical, with tall green sword-like leaves, even when not in bloom, become structural cottage and perennial garden accents!

Also known as Sword Lilies, Glads are eye-catching with their erect growth and alternating symmetry. Growing throughout USDA growing zones 8-10 as a hardy perennial bulb, the midsummer blooms work as annual accents in all other growing zones. Northern growers can dig the corms up in the fall once the foliage has yellowed and store them for the winter in a frost-free location.

Planting and Application:

Butterfly Belinda will attract their namesakes in droves! Plus bees and hummingbirds too! Easily tuck these space-saving flowering corms into existing and established pollinator gardens! Any garden becomes a cut flower garden with a few Gladiolas added! You will love the grand bouquets and vase arrangements you'll create with these upright blooms!

Long-lasting color, one of these Novelty flower spikes can bloom for a couple of weeks! Want a longer display? Plant your corms in spring two weeks apart for a staggered bloom all summer! Create drifts and rows in tight spots, groupings in corners, along paths, or against a fence line or rock wall for height and color!

  • Lovely Feathered Red & White Blooms
  • Long-Lasting & Space-Saving Vertical Growth
  • Sword-Like Green Leaves
  • Easy-Care Summer-Blooming Corms
  • Specimen, Planter Focal Points, Pollinator & Cut Flower Gardens

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Gladiolus in full sun or partial shade in a protected location for the strongest growth. For windy sites and very tall stems, some staking is recommended to keep the blooms from flopping. Plant these corms in very well-drained, organically rich soil that has moderate, consistent moisture.

Deadhead after the flowers fade and keep the leaves until they turn yellow to make food for the corms. In the fall, lift your bulbs out of the ground and store them in a nylon stocking or brown paper bag in a cool, dry location with good ventilation above freezing. Each year you'll notice more and more little corms forming around the base of the parent corm for more blooms each year!

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Organic Well-Drained Soil
  • Deadhead After Blooms Fade & Prune or Dig in Fall
  • Deer & Rabbit Resistant

Cupped and sculpted blooms and lovely red and white coloration, the Novelty Butterfly Belinda Gladiolus will add so much grace to your garden this year! Order now at NatureHills.com and get them shipped to your growing zone at the proper planting time for you today!
