Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Standard Shipping Rates

At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. You'll do a double-take for sure! The Negrita Parrot Tulip bulb plants (Tulipa 'Negrita') are the deepest purple, ruffled and fringed petals you can imagine! Curvy and streaked with greens and plums, the pleated ruffles of these gorgeous blooms will take your breath away!

Softly fragrant, Negrita Parrot Tulips rise above the wide, green blades of foliage and central rosette typical of the Tulip family, but this isn't an ordinary Tulip! With the sweet fragrance expected from spring-flowering bulbs plus the incredible cold hardiness and ease of care too!

Perennial bulbs are perfect for the novice gardener, or anyone with a small yard, just plant them and they'll bloom every year, multiplying and forming tidy clumps and groupings on their own over time without ever taking over your garden beds! These upscale beauties can be used as an annual in growing zones they're not hardy in.

Planting and Application:

These curiosities dress up any late spring garden bed or border! The dramatic blossoms seem to shine in the sun! Add unique blooms to rock gardens or plant them in rows along gardens as edging and low border plants. They are perfect for bouquets, so they are an absolute must-have for the cutting garden!

Force for winter décor or plant in protected planters where the ground won't freeze solid for fantastic color by your front entry, porch or patio! Mix among other spring bulbs or intersperse among larger perennials and shrubs without worrying about their roots crowding each other out.

  • Fragrant Satiny Curvy Fringed & Ruffled Petals
  • Dramatically Deep Purple-Plum Blooms
  • Strappy Wide Green Rosettes
  • Cold Hardy Perennial Bulb
  • Late Spring Color in Beds, Borders & Planters

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Fall-planted bulbs should be planted in the fall 6 to 8 weeks before a hard freeze. Each bulb should be planted pointed end upward and at least 8 inches deep. The location should be mulched, well-drained and in full to partial sun. Parrot Tulips do not like wet soil so water only when planting if it gets very dry in the fall or during prolonged drought.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture
  • Well-Drained Enriched Site
  • Deadhead After Bloom Fades
  • Cannot Tolerate Soggy Conditions
