Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Rich wine foliage for your garden pots and borders, the Miner's Merlot Spurge (Euphorbia x 'Miners Merlot') creates informal mounds of gorgeous saturated color that are purplish-burgundy and wine-red on the new growth, then turn into tinged dark green all growing season long until fall, when you can enjoy near-black leaves!

As if the rich foliage wasn’t enough, bees and butterflies will be drawn to the late spring chartreuse yellow blooms that last through the summer! The flowers are such a contrast to the foliage that the entire plant becomes an incredibly eye-catching specimen that is sure to turn heads!

Miner's Merlot is a hardy perennial in growing zones 6 through 9 and gets to about a 2’ tall and wide rounded mound. Thriving in any sunny garden location and can be used as an annual accent plant in cooler growing zones.

Planting and Application:

Miner's Merlot is an outstanding specimen and focal point anywhere in the garden, but really stands out among purple and red blooms and contrasts against yellows and chartreuse leaves and flowers alike. Let these dark leaves brood among mixed-planters and containers, or throughout garden beds and borders. Container gardens, Rock gardens, Cottage beds and borders all gain saturated color and striking contrast.

Spurge are great roadside ‘hell-strip’ plants, groundcovers and edging, so you’ll really amplify their foliage color big-time by planting in long rows, groupings and en masse. Deer resistant for worry-free swaths of color while the major pollinator-attracting blooms will bring in some of your favorite garden visitors.

  • Deep Dark Purple-Red & Green Foliage
  • Chartreuse Blooms for Pollinators
  • Near Black Fall Color
  • Pots & Planters, Garden Edges & Borders
  • Annual in Cool Zones, Perennial Zones 6-9

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Euphorbia loves the full sun. Provide regular water at first, but once established, they tolerate drier conditions, but to keep your plant looking its best, provide water in times of need. Easy-care, deer resistant and low-maintenance, provide a mulched bed. Deadhead after bloom to prevent seeds spreading, and prune back in early spring to revitalize growth.

  • Full Sun & Moderate Moisture
  • Prune Early Spring & Deadhead After Bloom
  • Almost Any Well-Drained Soil & Mulch Well
  • Deer Resistant & Easy-Care
  • Handle With Gloves - Milky Sap Might Be Skin Irritant
