To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Little John is also known as the Lemon Bottlebrush, the leaves emit a fresh fragrance when you brush against them on very hot days. Grab a vase and bring cuttings inside for display. You'll enjoy the wonderful scent inside your house.
The small, fine-textured evergreen foliage looks great year-round and is a fantastic backdrop to the incredibly red bottlebrushes of blooms! More like bristles than petals, the profusion of fluffy carmine-red blooms are favorites for local hummingbirds and pollinators! The main flowering is from spring until summer, then produce more blooms sporadically throughout the rest of the year!
Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush is a fantastic miniature version of the vibrant red Scarlet Bottlebrush shrub and only grows to a 3-foot tall wide mound that spreads 4-5 feet! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 8 to 11, making them just as heat tolerant as their full-sized cousins and these broadleaf evergreen shrubs are also wonderfully easy care! Even if your thumb is less than green, this pretty shrub can deliver a star performance for you.

Dwarf Bottlebrush bushes need full sun for the best blooms and tolerate a wide range of well-drained soils. It delivers the best performance in acidic conditions and once established is a xeric and drought-tolerant shrub! Use an acidifying fertilizer like Dr. Earth Acids Lovers Organic and Premium Fertilizer. Simply feed your plant in the spring to maintain good soil pH.
Resistance to heat makes Scarlet Bottlebrush a "plant it and forget it" kind of plant. Give it a layer of mulch to cover the root system for even more resiliency. Dwarf Bottlebrush takes to pruning very well. You can prune to shape it at any time of the year but it's best to prune right after that largest summer flush of flowers. Snip wayward branches or keep your tree-formed plant in tip-top shape with regular haircuts now and then.
