A Dwarfed Delight, the Little Goblin® Guy Winterberry Holly
- Native to Eastern North America
- Pollinator for Little Goblin Orange, Little Goblin Red and Berry Poppins
- Adaptable and Easy to Grow
- Deer and Disease Resistant
Don't be scared of the name! Check out this easy-growing bush: A dwarf, deciduous, nonfruit bearing shrub, the Little Goblin® Guy Winterberry Holly (Ilex verticillata 'NCIV3') grows into a lovely, rounded form, up to 3 to 4 feet tall and wide at maturity.
Plant the male Little Goblin® Guy near female varieties, like the Little Goblin Orange and Little Goblin Red, to pollinate them so they will produce their lovely berries through the Winter season.
The male Little Goblin will not produce the fruit itself, but still develops the cute, white flowers in the Spring, which attract pollinators.
Glossy, dark green leaves fill out the rounded shape of the Little Goblin® Guy Winterberry Ilex, which rarely requires maintenance or pruning. Deer and disease resistance add to the plant's positive qualities.
This Little Guy is also widely adaptable to different soil types and locations, making it super easy to grow! It can handle the coldest climates in USDA growing zones 3, all the way into warm growing zone 9.
Try planting them in those hard-to-grow areas on slopes or in wet soils along low-lying areas. They look great as hedge plants, for borders and edging, or as foundation plants. The dwarf size makes it a perfect option for smaller yards.
