Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. With its spectacular variegated foliage, this exceptional Lacecap Hydrangea really takes things to the next level. You'll love the looks of this modern cultivar...and all the compliments that you'll hear!
First Editions® Light-O-Day® Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bailday') delivers a deeply interesting presentation. This is a wonderfully modern cultivar that blooms first on old wood from last year; and then again on new wood from this year.
Beautiful blooms will inspire you with their dainty white outer circlet of sterile flowers. Look closely for the lustrous center blooms that turn blue or pink depending on your soil pH.
You'll have plenty of these outstanding flowers to appreciate through the seasons from summer through fall. Trim several for cut flower arrangements, and dry them for use over the wintertime.
Pure white variegation on the foliage adds an exceptional depth to the overall effect. Elegant Light-O-Day® Bigleaf Hydrangea is terrific in formal settings and also fits beautifully into contemporary landscapes.
Grow them in the ground en masse for a brilliant garden feature that gleams in the morning sun and afternoon shade. Or, use one in an outdoor container as a showy addition to your patio or porch.
Your thoughtful choice will keep your local butterflies happy! They need a variety of blooms to stay healthy, and Light-O-Day® has plenty of nectar-rich flower power.
Add an energetic look to your landscape with these easy-care plants. Light-O-Day®'s beautifully patterned leaves are held erect and make a perfect foil to arching Ferns and broad-spreading Hosta.
Garden designers adore the crisp white variegation of the foliage. It's a perfect contrast to the showy white showy sterile flowers on the outer ring that surround small pink fertile flowers that will be blue in acid soils.
We're thrilled to grow this special cultivar. Place your order for Light-O-Day® Hydrangea today, and we'll ship it to you when the time is right for planting in your area.
Don't miss out on this popular choice!
How to Use First Editions® Light-O-Day® Hydrangea in the Landscape
Line the edges of your planting beds with these exceptional Lacecaps. You'll never grow tired of their beauty and high performance.
For a dynamic border, plant them two feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.
Fill open ground by staggering additional rows behind the first in a zigzagging planting pattern. Mulch between plants and keep newly installed mass plantings weeded.
Hydrangeas love morning sun and afternoon shade. Why not enliven the east side of mature evergreen trees and shrubs with a new Light-O-Day® planting?
If you encounter vast root systems during this project, simply bring in a series of matching outdoor containers to keep them. Or, create raised planting mounds with additional soil.
These rounded plants look perfect in a foundation planting. Prune up overgrown shrubs to make room for their stylish charm.
Gift Light-O-Day® Hydrangea to a nature lover! Make Mother's Day special, or simply say "Happy Wednesday!" to someone you love.
#ProPlantTips for Care
You'll enjoy many years of joy with proper care. Plant them where they receive at least four hours of direct sunlight a day...favoring morning sun and afternoon shade, especially in hotter climates.
Well-drained soil is important. Create a raised bed to improve the drainage, or keep in containers. Soil pH will affect the center blooms...enjoy pink tones in alkaline soil and purplish-blue in more acidic soil. Mulch with pine bark or pine straw and use Acid Lovers fertilizer to keep the soil pH low for bluer blooms.
Apply a moderate amount of water on a regular schedule. This is especially important for container-grown plants ... try drip irrigation to automate this process for you.
Light-O-Day® Hydrangea may grow larger in warmer climates. In colder climates, there may be some winter-damaged tips. Some like to trim back flowering stems to remove the old bloom heads and leave the younger stems in place for early bloom from old wood first. As the plant starts to grow in early spring, shorten up any branch tips that are not leafing out. You will also remove old flower heads at that time. Plan to do periodic renewal pruning as the plants age. Remove the oldest stems on flowering stems down to the ground. In the winter, allow the last of the flowers to dry on the plant. You'll appreciate the extra winter interest as they catch and sculpt light snow.
