This is the classic sour yellow Lemon, the Lisbon Lemon (Citrus x limon 'Lisbon') is the go-to Citrus tree! The Lisbon is a 'pucker your kisser and brighten your tea' honest-to-goodness kitchen lemon! When you want a simple, real lemon you have to pick a Lisbon!
This is the lemon you buy in the grocery store. This is the lemon you remember as a kid daring your buddies to eat without making a face. This is the lemon that makes fish sing and lemonade soar. This is the classic sour yellow lemon. Smooth skin that isn't too thick and easy to peel, and easy to zest. One of the juiciest of all the lemons, Lisbon is great in cooking, juicing and drinking.
Not only will you enjoy a large harvest of delightfully juicy, tart fruit, but also clouds of white blossoms that are fragrant. Plus, glossy green foliage that persists year-round. Lisbon is a beautiful landscaping tree that you'll certainly be glad you planted in your yard!
Planting and Application:
Creating a mid-sized tree that's almost columnar in shape - 10-15 feet in height but only 4-6 feet in width, it's easy to find a place to tuck this ornamental into established landscapes and orchards. In return, it will beautify your home, add curb appeal, fragrance, and delectable Lemons!
Prune smaller yet for container gardens, allowing you to enjoy these ornamentals anywhere - porch, patio, balcony and rooftops, all can grow their own fruit as long as there is adequate sunshine. Northern gardeners too can pot this tree and keep it as an indoor tropical houseplant!
- Large Juicy Lemons for All Culinary Needs
- Produces All Year
- Narrow Growing Tree-Form
- Grow Indoors & Out
- Container & Ornamental Landscape Tree
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Citrus needs full sun to do its best, as well as slightly acidic well-drained soil. Cold-resistant and easy to grow - either in the yard in a forgiving climate or in a pot in the house by a big sunny window anywhere else - Lisbon Lemon has been known to produce year-round for you.
Citrus requires far less water when indoors. Be careful not to overwater your plant while it is indoors. Keep it on the dry side of moist. Fertilize with an acid fertilizer, such as Dr. Earth Acid Lovers Organic Fertilizer. Feed containers every other month.
Like all of our Citrus, these trees are a minimum of three years old, have extensive branching, and have some of the largest root systems available. We take pride in delivering you the highest quality Citrus Trees with healthy roots and full, well-established stems and foliage.
Protecting Container Citrus From Cold
If you're growing these tropical trees in the ground in the lowest of their favored growing zones, they need to be planted in a sheltered spot to avoid the worst of the chill. If a spot like that is unavailable, then you are better off planting in a large, deep container.
In borderline growing zones, begin slowly acclimating your tree indoors or into a protected location, eventually moving your tree inside in bright indirect sun for the winter if the temperatures in your area ever dip below that 40F range. In spring, reverse this process and begin acclimating your tree to again be back out in the full sun all summer. This reduces stress and leaf drop.
- Full Sun & Moderate moisture - Let dry out between waterings
- Fast-draining, slightly acidic, organic, enriched soil
- Provide regular fertilizer
