Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Zones 6-9
Bright foliage all year long, the Southern Living® Plants Lemon Lime Nandina PP#24749 (Nandina domestica 'Lemon-Lime') is a broadleaf evergreen with bright ornamental foliage. Just as the name implies, your Lemon Lime Nandina features gorgeous lemon lime coloring of a vibrant, light green so vivid that it approximates a yellow hue.
The lighter colors begin as new growth and deepen as the season continues, developing a grassy green as time goes by. It's a unique Nandina variety to be sure! In fact, it's the first Nandina to produce this bright lemon-lime color.
It seems many people are fascinated with colorful flowers, but there's no substitute for this carefree shrub! It's foliage that carries the show all by itself! Unlike other Nandina, Lemon Lime is berry-free and won't be spread by birds.
Also known as Sacred Bamboo, Lemon Lime Heavenly Bamboo is bushy but with a rounded habit and compact nature. Lemon Lime has moderate to fast growth, so you won't have to wait long for it to be a bright presence in your landscape! Growing throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 9, these tidy shrubs grow 3-4 feet tall and wide. In frost-free locations, Nandina are evergreen, but in colder areas, they will be deciduous or semi-evergreen.
Landscape Application:
Plant a few of these for a reliable border of year-round color around your mailbox, or even just one as a focal point in your perennial bed. Bring colorful backdrops into your garden beds that brighten the landscape among dark green conifers and meld beautifully among chartreuse shrubs.
Lemon Lime Heavenly Bamboo or Sacred Bamboo, is also a lovely choice for a few containers on the patio or front porch. Anywhere you plant a Lemon Lime Nandina, its foliage will present a stand-out, picture-perfect display! Add these unique plants around the patio or barbecue pit to enjoy their lush greenery, or add a tropical-looking flair to your poolside seating areas and porches
Create landscape bed-defining edging, use Lemon Lime as facer plants along your foundation, or as the foundation planting itself! The bright color enlivens your front yard, separating your home from the street. Wonderfully low-maintenance, you can fill your landscape with Nandina and not need to work hard to keep your hedges looking beautiful - both naturally grown or formally sheared!
- Ornamental Bright Lemony Lime Foliage
- Broadleaf Evergreens With Round Tidy Form
- Tiny Flowers For Pollinators
- Does Not Produce Berries
- Works Well in Containers, Bright Hedges, Specimens, Edging & Facer Shrubs
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Nandina grows best in full sun but can also grow well in partial shade. Plant in any kind of well-drained soil with moderate moisture access. Prune your shrub if desired after the flowering is done so as not to deprive your bees and butterflies of their meals. All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around their roots.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Prune After Flowering
- Disease & Pest-Resistant
