Hybrid Tea Rose Trees need full sun and good air circulation to do their best! Provide a location with the morning sun to dry their leaves and only water at the root zone. Plant in enriched, highly organic, and fertile soil that is well-drained - never soggy. Water regularly, especially throughout the hot summer months and provide an added layer of 3-4 inches of arborist mulch for protection, insulation & moisture retention.

Rose Tree Care & Pruning

Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the colder zones 5 and 6 and some of zone 7 too by overwintering in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take it back out or unwrap and trim the head back to about a 12" sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.

Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.

In zones 7 and below, Hybrid Tea Roses should be mounded with 8-12 inches of mulch in late fall after the frost killed the leaves for best overwintering. Prune away suckers and branching that forms at the base or on the trunk each year too. Pruning Roses allows for better, bushier growth each year and stimulates new growth.
